    What type of clay

I know that there are different types of clay, some more abrassive than others. I have a dark blue truck and it has only been painted for 2 months and there are some contaminiates on the paint. So what type of clay should i get and what brand?

    Re: What type of clay

there are several good clay bars that will all do the job. clay magic, mothers and megs all make quality products and are available otc. if you want just the clay bar and lube, get the clay magic as it`ll run right around $10 at your local autozone.

    Re: What type of clay

There are, I think, two kinds of clay, one is more plasticy than the other. My Clay Magic says, no, there is 16 or 17 different kinds. I don`t buy it.

But there are two grades: fine and medium/hd. For a dark car, never ever use a more abrasive grade unless you have to because of the degree of contaminants.

Buy an OTC kit (like Mothers or Megs) or by the QD and clay separately, which are usually fine grade. I find I can dilute QD by about half and still have a nice lube. Soap and water works to, but isn`t quite as nice to work with. The soap also breaks the clay down a tiny bit faster, so if yo0u have a cleanish car, it means turning the clay in (or kneading it) more than you need to.

    Re: What type of clay

IIRC mgm2003 told me awhile ago that Opti Clay is very similar to PB`s clay (and it`s probable that they are entirely the same), so my opinion of Opti Clay is that it is VERY stretchable. Good luck trying to break it! It certainly does not crumble when using with soap/water as lube, and it does a respecatable job. Make sure you spray some QD on it before you close the container though, because it will dry out pretty easily even in a sealed container.
