    quick connect/disconnect for hose?

I`ve heard of the quick disconnect systems for the foam gun, but I was wondering if any existed for use with the garden hose. Something I can use to quickly switch from the hose gun to the pressure cleaner and then once again to the hose.

Does this type of thing exist? And if so where would I be able to find it?

Yes. Any hardware store will have them.
Most building supply stores, even Wal*Mart or Target.
The metal ones are probably more durable, but I only use plastic ones in case I drop a hose end on a vehicle.

That`s kinda funny because I finally went out today and picked up a couple quick connects with the shut-off valve from Lowes. After using it I`ve realized I was an idiot for procrastinating and not picking them up sooner because of the time it saves and just plain ease of changing ends now without having to walk back and shut the water off and then change ends, then turn the water back on...

I remember reading before, but don`t remember where or who, so excuse me for not giving you you`re credit, but I plan on getting one of my old garden hoses and cutting it at about 4 inches from the end. That way I can use it as a quick-connect flooding tool.

    You`re excused.
Make it at least 12" to 18" long for it to do what you want.

Norah is the queen of quick disconnect items... I have them on my FG and can switch from FG to hose sprayer in seconds

I love the quick connect, and makes integrating repaired hoses really easy.

I agree that the metal ones are more durable but i myself do not want them near my vehicles. I recently upgraded all my hoses and nozzles to the QD fittings. I got mine at Sears came with nozzle/whatever nipples and then the QD fitting for the hose.

    Re: quick connect/disconnect for hose?

I got quick connects last week. I can now easily switch from the Pressure washer to the FG. I bought plastic because my pressure washer came with a plastic quick connect. I am planning on upgrading to metal soon, the plastic ones just seem to disconect themselves from the pressure washer.

    Re: quick connect/disconnect for hose?

I went ahead and bought a brass set. it came with 1 male, 1 female, and 3 nipples. lol... Whoever named them must always have the giggles. lol. I paid 8 bucks in total. They seem pretty strong. Amazing how these type of recommendations go unheard. It should be in the beginners list.

    Thanks again guys.

I tried this last spring too. I didn`t really care for it as the disconnect caused a loss of pressure/flow. Did I do something wrong or has anyone else notice that too?

I also made a undercarriage sprayer with a four foot section of PVC and a quick disconnect. That worked out well.

I don`t think I have noticed a pressure loss, but I don`t use that much high pressure spray to remember for sure. It was never a problem.

Was your undercarriage sprayer like this?
