What to do after wash with mitt

What does everyone do with there mitt after they have used it? I normally just ring it out. Do you wash yours every time in the washing machine? I have several types of mitts 2-3 synthetic, 1 cotton, and had a sheepskin ( dog ate it).

I did not like the sheepskin, it just flat out stinked when wet and did not seem to hold water and soap good at all. I believe i purchased it from walmart.

Are the cotton ones the best for not marring your paint. I have a black car and its VERY important.

I wash my mitts after every use. I dont like the risk of a dirty mitt on any vehicle I touch.

I use 100% cotton chenille mitts. After each wash, I rinse out the mitts in the sink and then place them into a large plastic bag/bin with all my other cotton detailing mitts/towels. When I have accumulated enough to do a load of laundry, I machine wash them. I never reuse a mitt without machine washing it.

I wash and ring out then hang to dry I clean mine in the washer every 3 to 4 uses. I also have one for just the car, one for the rims and wheels and never the two touch.

Re: What to do after wash with mitt

I dont baby the ones i get locally at all. Sometimes i leave them in my rinse bucket all week until i wash my truck again, sometimes i rinse them out and hang them to dry...

Whatever mood i am in..and im not sure if it has worn them out all either.

Actaully when i dry them, i dont like waiting for them to soften up before i wash....i might just soak them forever now hahahaha.

    1. Sheepskin mitts from Wal*Mart
    2. One for wheels, one for the body
    3. Rinse with hose after use
    4. Hang over special drying rack (Broom handle)

FWIW, I keep an extra body mitt for when I drop the one I`m using. Hasn`t happened often, but it has happened.

Seems to work for me as a mitt is probably good for 6 months to a year for use on the body then it is used for wheels. It is then good for 6 months to a year for wheel use.

I use sheepskin mitts and wash them after every car wash then dry them about half way before hanging them to finish drying. Believe it or not these doubles or triples the amount of times I can use them.

I take them directly from the wash bucket and put them in the washer and run just the single rinse and spin cycle. I set it to gentle. By the time I am done drying the car the cycle is finished and they are half way dry. I pull them from the washer, make sure the inside is open and hang them up in the garage to dry completely.

I`ve found that leaving your mitts causes em to smell, so I`ll definitely listen to these tips
