Clay Bar Kit: Mothers vs Clay Magic

I initially went to the store to buy the Meguiar`s Clay Detailing Kit, but neither Autozone or Advanced Discout Auto Parts had it.

They had Mothers and Clay Magic Clay Bar Kits.

    Which one is better?

I`d go with the clay magic. I don`t think there is much difference in the clay itself, but mother`s includes cleaner wax which makes the package cost more.

I`ve used both Mother`s and Clay magic before. Both work well, but if I had a choice, I`d get the Clay Magic.

ClayMagic Blue w/lube for $9.95 at AutoZone can`t be beat

Well, I guess I`ll swim against the current I prefer the Mother`s clay. While the Clay Magic is stickier, the Mother`s clay stretches w/o tearing apart and thus easier to fold and mold. And of course the yellow color of the clay makes it easier to spot contaminants.

Then of course the Mother`s Showtime QD beats the CM lube handily (IMO).

Of course if your basis for choosing between the two is cost, then that makes the choice somewhat easier.

Cost is always a factor but if the product doesn`t get the job done then you`ve just wasted some bucks.

I haven`t tried the Megs clay `cause ClayMagic blue does what I need (knead??) it to do. The lube ran out last year & I started using soapy wash water for lube & I get the same results without any marring or smearing.

Identify what works for you & use it often.

It doesnt really matter which one you choose. They are both made by Clay Magic and they are the same.

I like both. I like the Mothers Showtime QD way better than the Clay magic stuff, but at half price....I make due with the Clay magic. I wish Mothers would take the cleaner wax out of theirs, I have tons of those little bottles laying around now. I use it on my guitars mostly.

Maybe they are both made by CM, but I highly doubt they are the same. I have used both, and there is definitley a difference in the makeup of the clay.

I have used clay magic, mothers and meguiars and out of the three I like mothers the best but I buy the clay magic kit because I prefer their lube and it costs 7 bucks less
