I went to the local Autozone yesterday and was looking through some things, and I seen some mf towels. Are there specific ones that are not good to use, or are all of them good?

The quality of a MF towel is VERY important. MOST of the MFs I`ve seen locally are cheap, but they are crappy.
They aren`t plush and don`t hold as much water. I have seen some quality ones though, like Meguiar`s or I have a great Viking one for drying (but I also have some Viking ones that aren`t so good).
The best way IMO is to buy from the internet, so you`ll know what quality is. Then you`ll know what`s good when you go to AutoZone.

Yeah.. exaaaactly! Be careful of cheap ones, but they are good for doing grunge detail work like wheels and stuff. Save your good MF`s for your paint!
dpeezy,
what type of wiking towel do u use for drying. are u talking about the waffle weave looking one?
target/walmart carry microtex microfibers dryign towels. they are super awesome...
I`ve found a 3 pack of Microfibers at Advance Auto Parts for around $7.00 and they actually work pretty decent on paint. They are the Blue, Green, and Yellow, ones rolled together.
Otherwise, the Microtex Drying and 16 x 16 towels at Wal-Mart are awesome.
I even favor them above many other MF`s that I have used. Super soft!

Obsessed?
- Yeah, ain`t it cool!
those were the first microfiber towels i ever bought. i enver had any problem with them. i still have 2 of them. and i still use it on my paitn for spray and wipe.
the ones at advance are z-wipes and they suck except for the glass ones and black magic has some there also. Get to pep boys and get the new meg line of MF they kick but.
actually the ones i picked up at advance a while back were detail solutions or somehting like that. pretty good in my opinion.
I bought a 18 pk of some light blue Plush MFs at Sam`s Wholesale club. I was STUNNED at the plushness and quality of those towels at the price. They were like $10 for the 18 pk.
I haven`t used them on paint. I bought them for "grunge" work and for interiors, etc. The only towels that touch my paint came from PAC. However, I don`t see a huge difference in the way the towels FEEL.
Don`t do it... don`t use the Sams club one on the paint. Maybe when you start off.. like claying, removing bugs and tar and strange matter that has bonded to the paint. But as you begin to polish... Don`t do it. I dit and found myself swirling my work.. Had to start again with a nice plush yellow one and was again looking go on the swirl removal train... They are good for interior, windows, wheels, door jams, engine bay, just not the paint....
I been fortunate enough to evaluate the new Meguiar`s Supreme Shine MF towels. They are very good for the price. If you can find them locally, they are 3 for $10. Not quite as good as some found online, but very good for an over-the-counter towel.
Anyone use the simonize drying towel...looks pretty plush...just wondering
All I use are the Sams Microfiber Detailers Best from Hometex. Use em to Dry, Polish, Glass, Interior, Wheels. These are the same towels at Wallmart. They work just as fine as the more expensive towels I have used. There is no scratching, swirling, or other. I will agree there are varying degrees of MicroFiber quality but most do not warrant spending mega bucks on them. If you claim these towels introduced swirling on your finish, you did something wrong in the process.
Me, I have 2 bags of Costco yellow MF from Eurows(i think). And I have few Cobra MF towel...Its great I gotta say. :beer
I like the Microtex 2-packs and drying towels from Walmart too. They`re really plush and haven`t scratched my black car at all. The fact that they`re made in Korea instead of China makes me feel better too.
