Sounds like you need to pull the carpets out of the truck. What kind of extractor are you using?

In my experience with dirt and sand or sandy dirt, the sand will go to the bottom of carpeting and be very hard to remove - even with an extractor which I have.

The higher the water lift number of the extractor the better, if it has a 3-stage motor, better.

It takes a LOT of time to very carefully remove embedded dirt, and sometimes, another stiff enough brush to help separate the carpet fibers helps as well.

Or, as Jsmooth above has correctly said, you may have to pull the carpeting all out, and either, run high pressure air through it or better still, a good powerful pressure washer with a Fan type nozzle that will slowly move the embedded layer of dirt from one end of the carpeting to the other and out..

I see this all the time in some floor mats and have to sometimes resort to pressure washing carefully if time permits for drying...

    Good luck !

When I encounter something like this, I don`t even bother trying to play easy with it. The interior gets gets gutted and the carpet gets power washed. Luckily I don`t have to do it very often on the retail side, but its a common occurrence for wholesale stuff.

    vacuum
    stiff brush
    vacuum

if that don`t work, get new carpets

    Arizona -

    Good idea..

It will always be easier to remove the dirt when the carpeting is on a flat surface like the driveway, etc...

The hardest floor mats I have ever had to clean are made by Lloyds, I believe..
They are absolutely awesome - really thick, expensive pile, cut really nicely to fit, but boy, they suck up dirt way down there and its hard to remove..

Good luck with your project !

This is where I would go with it first. Vacuum, brush... repeat.... If this doesn`t work then it might be time for a gutting, as suggested.

One of the most frustrating, or at least time consuming, aspects of detailing.

If your in the sun, hot weather anyways. I had a friend with an mr2 that had more stains than I had ever seen. Long story short....

    1. Took a plastic panel, angled it up against a bench. Put the whole carpet/floor on it.
    2. Sprayed it down with cg fabric clean through the foam canon.
    3. Hook n loop heavy duty carpet brush, rotary.
    4. Power washed the hell out of it. Keep in mind make sure it`s below 1800psi an a good wide angle other wise you will shred the carpet.
    5. Let it dry in the sun, the angled plastic will let the water drain, let gravity an the sun do the work.
