The rust around the wheels will need to be fixed properly. Base simply on that I would suggest taking it to a body shop to be fixed and then repaint the front end as well.

with the depth of those chips and the rust blistering underneath, i think it`s time for a sand, primer, and repaint to do it right. Dr. ColorChip Custom Automotive Touch-Up Paint Kit is great if you can catch the chips when they first happen.

Does BMW have a rust warranty? I think some manufactuers offer one up to 10 years now. Since its a E46 you might be pushing close to that.
    Goodluck.

😔 not quite the answers I was hoping for but if a trip to the bodyshop is the only way then so be it. I will get dr colorchip for the bonnet as its not that bad. The car is on a 03 plate so I don`t think I qualify for warranty.
    Thanks for the replies 👍

I hate to say this but all of that is poor previous repair work. Do you know the history? The bumper will definitely need stripped because any more paint will crack at the slightest impact or bump. The fender is a used replacement or a repaint original. The primer is all wrong and rust not characteristic.
One day I`ll get to do my own car.

Yup, that front bumper looks like it had been previously painted just in the pictures. When you can tell in pictures, thats when you know its bad.

exact;y...this is poor prior repair work.......car has had work done for sure.....If the owner had it done, maybe the original shop can warranty the work. I had an allstate insurance claim on wifes Monte Carlo SS, that they guarnateed the repair for life....and within a year rust bubbles on the wheel arch came through....they repaired it at no cost to me...
