What do I Need for my Wife?

I figured that might get some looks. I`m going to ask a question that I`m sure has been asked many times. But I looked and did not find a clear answer to my specifics. So if this is the same old shi... please point me in the right direction.

    OK here goes.

I want to get my wife set up so that she can polish and wax her car. She asked for a cheapie buffer so that she could do it herself. I can`t stand cheap tools, so I bought her a PC 7424XP. I considered buying one of the "kits" that includes buffer, pads and polishes. But I would rather find out what she would actually need rather than what comes in the kits.

So along with the 7424XP, what pads and polishes would be a good starting point for her to keep a shine on her car. The car is an 2010 BMW Z4 convertible. Dark Blue metallic.

Also looking for interior and top treatment info.

    Thanks,
    Ron

Ron, here`s a kit that should be able to work and correct your wife`s BMW:

    BLACKFIRE Total Swirl Remover Kit

For the top there`s none better then using a RaggTopp Fabric Convertible Top Care Kit, you might want to check to see if this one is the right one needed for the BMW.

For interior there are many options and here are a few for the interior:

    BLACKFIRE All-In-One All Purpose Cleaner
Ultima Interior Guard Plus, 12 oz.

I was wondering if the RaggTopp was a good product. I`ve read some good things here about the BlackFire products, so far they seem like good stuff. I`ll check out the suggestions.

    Thank You

    Polish:
For polishes there are many great choices. The Meg`s twins 105/205 are one of the best combos out in my opinion. Menzerna also makes great polishes and are OEM providers for most European car makers. Optimum also has a set of spray polishes that are suppose to be very good as well.

    Pads:
For pads I would stick with 5.5 as the size and 7/8 thick. On my PcXP they work the best for me. The LC hydro or flat pads are my foam pads of choice. The hydro are nice because they have 1 cutting and 1 polishing pad so they match most 1-2 combos. I also really like the MF cutting pads as well.

    Convertible Top:
My farther has had great success using the 303 combo for cloth tops. It works really well.

    Interior:
For interior I would suggest Ultima interior gaurd plus for protection and their interIor shampoo gel. I also really like optimum leather protectant.

blackfire products are definitely my favorites.
unless you like stopping and cleaning pads while you work, do yourself a favor and buy extra orange, white, green, etc. pads for polishing (one for each major body panel) and just a few red pads for spreading your wax or sealant. work goes much faster. a good supply of microfiber towels really helps too.

Am I correct that "The Meg`s twins 105/205 are one of the best combos out in my opinion." Refers to Meguires products?

Not having enough pads seems to be a common problem. Clean pads just work better.

I agree Al. I seem to have a ton of pads; but almost always seem to go though them all very quickly and need more. The Grit Guard Univeral Pad Washer is a life saver if you can justify having one. I got it as gift so I am very lucky.
