I`m a 16 year old looking to start out a mobile detailing business! I have a lot of the things i need already wash mitts, wax, buckets, PC 7424 etc... What i am wanting to know is when did you begin detailing? I am not looking to go pro yet just get started on something i can do over weekends make a little money and do something i enjoy! I already detail the vehicles at my home (see list in sig), so just looking for a few tips, tricks and what you think.

Thanks Guys i look forward to your replys!

I began detailing back in the early 90`s when I got out of high school. It put me through college the first time around.

Tips = practice makes perfect. Always push yourself to the next level

Tricks = Automate your process. Attack each vehicle in the same manner It makes you a better detailer, More task orinented, more organized. When I correct I start at the hood and go down the drivers side and finish back up the other side on the hood. When I do interiors I start in the back and work my way forward each and every time. Stay away from wasted movements and jumping around all the time. Not only will you waste time but the likelyhood of missing something is greatly increased.

    On the interior:

I do the leather, then all the carpets, then all the plastics, then condition the leather, then the plastics, then the windows.

on the outside, its pretty simple!

wash, clay, compound, polish, wax, trim, wipe off wax, windows
