    Hey all!!

My good friend and fellow Autopian Woody (WS67902) brought over his beautiful `02 WS6 yesterday for us to "play" with and try out some new Zaino products. The car is his daily driver and has about 45K on the odo. It had never been deep polished (aside from a few areas on the hood) but is garaged and well kept.

Our process for the detail was as follows:

Drink beer and eat pizza. Finally actually start detailing the car around 5 or 6 pm. :dance

    Wash with Z-7.

Clay with Z-18 using Z-6 as a lube. The clay revealed absolutely zero contaminants with Woody and I doing this step more to strip the paint of any leftover products than anything else.

Polish with Zaino`s ZPC Fusion using Meg`s 8006 pad`s and our PC`s set on 5 - 6. My initial impressions of this polish is that it is a fairly aggressive product. I would equate its cutting power and work time to Menzerna IP or SSR 2.5. It dusts a fair amount but is not excessive and spreads evenly with little effort. I quickly learned that just when you think the product is completely broken down...it`s not...and requires a few slow final passes on each section at speed 6 with minimal pressure. What I really loved about the ZPC is what it finished down to...a beautiful high gloss shine that was free of any haze and ready for a LSP. It was like using an aggressive polish in its initial cut but ended up finishing down like a final polish. It smells scrumptious to boot.

    Wipe down car with Z-6.

Apply 3-coats of ZFX`d Z-5 with a coat of Z-8 in between each layer. Z-8 is an absolutely wonderful product. It works very much like Z-6...it`s a bit thick...but leaves a totally different finish. I noticed it was MUCH slicker than Z-6 as I wiped each panel down. The thing that got me is the amount of depth the Z-8 added to the black paint...something I am not accustomed to when using Zaino products. The look of the product reminded me very much of what applying Crystal Mist does to dark colors...enhanced gloss and depth.

Below are some pics of the detail and the pretty cool sight of two WS6 Trans Am`s parked in my garage!! I apologize for the poor quality of the pics. I did not want to use the flash because it would wash out the detail and I was obviously shaking during the exposure. I`ll get a tri-pod one of these days...

    Enjoy,

    Mike

Great work, Mike! That last hood shot is outstanding

Your review is spot on with my findings. What`s really amazing about Z8 is how it comes alive even more the next day...unmatched slickness and depth.

Pizza + Beer + Detailing is a good combo

Is that some type of rubber floor mat? Where do you get something like that?

Excellently written review Mike. Especially your description on how Z-PC Fusions works.

Gotta love how the Zaino system works and F-bodies (vehicles with Balls).
