Did two details this week, and they couldn`t have been farther apart. Detail #1 was the job from hell, a black 2001 Audi A6 that had apparently been washed with a scotchbrite pad, paint transfer, and god knows what else. Despite having only 50,000 miles, it had seen rougher days than some cars at 4 times that number.

    Process:

    Engine

Spray + Wipe via terry rag

BnB, let sit for an hour, wiped with terry rag

    Outside

    EO Wet Wash

Chemical Guys` clay with CG QD as lube

    Durachem acid on rims

CG blue wheel cleaner on tires and wells

(all polishing done via Makita 9227C)

Powergloss @1500RPM via light cut wool pad

Big O @1700 via orange Propel

    PO85RD @1500 via green propel

RMG via Cyclo and white LC pads

    Souveran by hand

4 parts BnB 4 parts water 2 parts NL on engine, wells and tires

    Interior

    Vaccum

    Hi-Temp prespot

    Agitate with PC + brush

Zep Commercial shampoo with little green

    Woolite + MCME

    Natural Look

    Stoner`s on glass and doorjambs

And now for the good stuff - 2004 Chevy Avalanche, owned by a councours 1972 Le Mans owner . Only major hassle was that he wanted everything done by hand, but for what he was paying, I was happy to oblige him :xyxthumbs.

    Engine

    Castrol SC full strength

    BnB

    Outside

    EO Wet Wash

Chemical Guys` clay with CG QD as lube

    PB`s S+R on rims

CG blue wheel cleaner on tires and wells

RMG via hand (lightly swirled, and I wasn`t gonna PO85RD the whole truck by hand )

    Souveran by hand

English Custom Showman`s Blend on exterior aluminum

    Owner requested no exterior dressing

    Interior

    Vaccum

    Zep via LGCM

    Woolite + MCME

    Natural Look

    NXT glass cleaner on glass

    CG Detail Spray on doorjambs

Sorry no befores, they looked pretty much the same, with a tad less gloss and depth.

Very nice job on the Audi, themightytimmah :2thumbs:

It`s so nice when clean, esp the interior. Sad that the owners obviously never even vaccumed it too often.

The Avalanche looks good too, was the owner affraid that the PC could hurt the paint?

Oh the Audi was terrible. The clearcoat was an absolute rock, it laughed at PG via orange pad. Wool was my only option to cut out some of the biggest scratches. I don`t know if theres a trick that I`m missing, or whatnot, but I spent over 3 hours with a rotary, and didn`t even get things 100% swirl free.

P.S. ignore the blurryness in the last pic, my hands were a lil shakey from running the Makita all afternoon . Plus I`m tripod-challenged.
