97 heavily oxidized Porsche C4S

Ron and I went out today and took out some dings and then tried to revive this sad Porsche.

It was a nice pink color when we arrived, sadly heavy overcast skies and rain didn`t allow us to get really good before shots but we do have a few.

This is the front end, notice the low sheen, lack of color?

Here is the rear deck lid area

Picture of the fender. Paint was really dull, lifeless.

Here is a half and hafl picture of the hood. The left half is untouched, the right has been polished with a rotary and Optimum`s black final cut wool pad and Optimum Polish

The whole car was polished with rotary, at about 1700 rpm`s, Optimum black final cut wool pad, Optimum black foam finishing pad, we used Optimum Polish on both steps. After the black foam pad we were ready to wax and we thought we would try something new this time.

We laid down some Gliptone Paste Wax on top of the Optimum polished paint. It went on and off easily and gave us a very nice wet look....especially when it was raining

We then went over it with Optimum spray wax, Optimum Tire Shine for the tires.

BEAUTIFUL detail Anthony!! :xyxthumbs It amazes me how folks can let a vehicle of that caliber get to such a condition. Thank gawd for folks like you and Ron to bring them back up to snuff!!

What do you think of the Gliptone wax? When I was in Connecticut this winter the local Pep Boy`s had their entire line of products...they don`t carry them here in Georgia.

Ron and I both are pretty impressed with the Gliptone Paste Wax....I mean at $10 how can you go wrong??

It leaves a great wet shine behind and also one heck of a slick surface. It seems to be just as durable as many of the other paste waxes I have tried.

Now Gliptone claims it has around 38% carnauba content, if so that is a very high amount as most contain amounts in the teens or low 20% range. I have no clue if that claim is accurate or not.

Thank you.

Ron used Valu-Gards ETR II kit. This is NOT a dressing that will wash off after a short period but rather is an actual dye that can last up to 12 months. It comes with a clear coat product also to give it more protection and more shine.

Jay, the Optimum final cut is not a product but their line of polishing pads. The one in question happens to be lambswool with a velcro backing plate.

Outstanding as always, Anthony! I`m not at all suprised how well Optimum Polish came through for you. I know I have also had really good results....good enough that I`ll be ordering some soon!

Like the others, I am amazed someone could let a car like that fade so badly before taking steps to correct it.

The paint looked really wet now, looks like Gliptone topped with OCW is a pretty good combo. BTW, OCW works great over #16 as well.

I am not sure how or why a car like a Porsche can get in that condition....well yeah I do, just plain neglect!

But on the bright side he now wants it cared for on a more regular basis, so that`s cool.

I guess you could but the Optimum spray wax is best suited to be a final topper. I have not as of yet experimented with it in that way.

Personally I prefer to use just Optimum myself, as my one and only topper.
