Dodge Charger Daytona 392 Graphene Coated

I coated this Charger two years ago.

    2017 Dodge Charger Daytona 392

It was due for a one step polish and coating once again. There was also a request to paint the calipers red. I didn’t take too many photos of the progress. But I did upload on my channel various products on various areas that I did on this one. I did take paint measurements and noticed higher readings on the front two fenders and and one corner of the hood. The hood definitely looked repainted as the gloss and orange peel are different. Come to find out that it was repainted by the previous owner due to front end damage. The rest of the paint is healthy with an average reading in the 5.5 mil range across the other panels.

    The before condition

Test spot with CarPro Essence and a Rupes yellow foam pad using an LHR15MKII. I already knew the hardness of the paint from a couple years ago.

The paint was panel wiped with Eraser and coated with the Exoforma Graphene Coating. This is a one layer only coating. It darkened the paint and goes on pretty thick. Left the surface slick as well.

    Various areas that were coated.

Glass coated with the Artdeshine Graphene Window Coating

Door jambs with GlassParency Graphene Spray Coating

Trim coated with PBL Ceramic Trim Restorer.

Tires coated with two layers of Cquartz BlackOut. Review can be found here.

Review - CarPro CQuartz BlackOut Tire & Rubber Coating

Wheels were stained. All I could do was clean, prep and coat them with Adams Graphene Ceramic Coating.

The various coatings used. Xtreme Solutions Graphene used on the matte vinyl`s which will need to be replaced since they are stained with water spots that could not be removed by polishing.

Yea that looking sharp you went to town. I really love to apply the newer graphene type coating for there ease of use and no high spots when doing large sections. The last thing you want to do after prep is have a battle with a finicky coating. I have not used Art de shine one I know that one might be required alittle more time spent applying or the need to stay on top of it. looking forward to updates.

    Guz:
Where did the water spotting come from; lawn sprinklers/landscape irrigation or the not-too-frequent rain in California or improper vehicle washing (like outside on sunny day or a tunnel wash without drying)?? Are mineral deposit removers/water spot removers that bad or harsh on vinyl decals?
Could you have used white vinegar on them and rinsed with distilled water or a rinse-less wash like clay-lube dilution strength Optimum No-Rinse??

Do you like the Rupe`s Bigfoot LHR15 Mark II that you have and used "better" than the Mark III OR have you never tried the Mark III to make a comparison?

Do you tape off the matte vinyl graphics/decals before you polish?

Do you have a wheel stand for holding or supporting the wheel after it is removed from the vehicle for cleaning and detailing?

(Ah, the ever-inquisitive and questioning Captain Obvious.... Inquiring detailing minds want to know.
Hey, now you know what Sizzle Chest, 512Detail, Mike lambert, and Merlin go through when they post pics of their detailing exploits.
Geeze, Captain Obvious, this is more like a "OCD Detailing Inquisition"... Just sayin`....)

Oh ya, EXTREMELY nice work on this "waterspotted" Black Mopar (again). You can say what you want, but those used-as-a-mirror-to-put-on-your-lipstick-or-comb-your-hair, whiplash-head-turning, stop-and-stare, perfectly detailed black vehicles separates the truly exceptional detailers from those who call themselves wannabe "detailers". As I have quoted before the late 1950`s-early 60`s New York Yankee`s baseball manager Yogi Berra famously saying, "It ain`t braggin` if you can do it."

That is a mystery unto itself. Not sure about the water spot removers but Meguiar`s M39 did a great job deep cleaning the vinyl`s and pulling embedded grime out of them.

No reason to get a MK3 with my MK2 working just fine.

As I mentioned I polished the vinyl`s. I only taped off the edges so the pad and tool don`t rip them off or lift any edges.

I have the wheel stand that is in the wheel coating video. It is only for one wheel at a time that is being worked on.
