Client just took delivery of this corner carver! Pretty cool color combo and spec! He plans on using it on the street as well as track days. Paint was FULL of swirls, paint, almost all of the ‘gloss’ black was hazy from swirls, it looked gray. TONS of water spots. It got hit with a sprinkler for a few days. Full of ferrous contaminants. Paint was THIN, and on the hard side. Client wanted the interior pieces (carbon fiber) to remain covered in the factory ‘wrapper’ to protect them.

That paint is ultra-thin! Yet, I see you used the Flex 3401 polisher and did what looks like a three-step correction and polish. Were you "caught" in a detailing conundrum between trying to remove the water spotting completely and not thin the clear coat too much?
I get to ask one dumb question: Does the McKees 37 iron remover "help" with removing the water spotting somewhat OR is it all in correction and polishing??

I see that you used Hydes Serum on these metal (cast iron or steel alloy?) rotors to prevent rusting. Just curious if it works "temporarily" and is more for appearance after this complete detail OR if it last for some time to prevent the rust from forming for a while.

OK, all this time I have been viewing your detailing exploit posts on various vehicles and NEVER realized that your heading colored text with the vehicle specs "matches" the color of the vehicle itself (except white)! Guess I do not live up to the self-titled name of "Captain Obvious", now do I? (Hey, we never said he was the sharpest knife in the drawer! Kinda "one French Fry short of a Happy Meal", if you know what I mean.)

Thanks for posting pics and methods on this detail of an iconic and unique color Lotus. (If there are two or more Lotus cars, is it "Loti" for the plural?)

Thanks for all the comments everyone! Yes, an absolute shame/crime that it was in this shape from the dealer. Setec, yep, still been manufacturing vehicles!

Lonnie: I believe it does assist in the removal, as a lot of the remnants of the water is mineral deposits/hard water iron/etc.

The heavy stuff came off after wash, decon, clay. They rest needed to be polished off.

I was very careful in my approach as I kept those paint readings in mind!

Hydes does work. It will keep the rotors from rusting badly until you can blow dry the wheels/calipers/rotors. It is only temporary as the pads will remove it the first time you apply the brakes.

LOL, I usually do that every time I can in my write ups, Captain Obvious!
