    1970 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

I am stealing Sizzle Chest`s format.

    1970 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible
    Blue w/ Black Interior
    350 HP | 380 Lbs. Ft. Torque
    350 CU | 10.25:1 Comp. Ratio
    4-Speed Manual Transmission

Affectionately known as "Clyde" this `vette is my father-in-laws. He bought it completely restored from a guy in Georgia and he keeps it at the lakehouse down here in Texas. It`s no concours car but it is a very clean, original example of a 1970. After two years of ownership the dusting and car cover had left some swirls that were driving him nuts. Most of the pictures are pretty artsy and pretty much all are in the shade but hey, still looks good! I can say about 75% of the marring was cleaned up.

    ONR
    Clay
    ONR
Blackfire SRC Compound on orange pad
Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish on white pad
    PB Natty`s Blue Paste Wax
    Stoner`s Invisible Glass

Didn`t touch the interior because at that point it was beer-thirty.

Bonus, two 1970 CT-70s. These things were nasty but they cleaned up nice.

I love it! Great work. Is there anything you have to do for older paint or is it clear coated, etc.? My dad had a `65 Stingray Convertible in Nassau Blue when I was a little kid. I hope to buy it back one day.

This car has been clearcoated, and it is really hard paint. I still feel overly cautious polishing on it but when I finished I told my father-in-law I probably could have used a more aggressive setup.

For working on that old paint, LEDetailing pointed me to a great technique that Mike Phillips with Meguiars developed using Megs #7, that worked miracles on the single-stage paint on my `31 Chevy. I highly highly highly recommend it if your dad`s `65 has an ounce of oxidation or if the paint just looks tired.

I linked to that thread below, and on page 2 LEDetailing drops the link to the Megs #7 technique (that link still worked for me just now)

Those CT-70s are stupid fun. My wife bought me an American flag cape and I have an open face American flag helmet. I look like a d$#% fool and it is so much fun. We put new engines on them that are actually 90cc so they will run about 40-45mph.

My younger brother restores and collects old motorcycles, mopeds, mini-bikes, among other things. I believe he has a couple of these. Kids on my street had them when I was younger.
