    Merlin"
How do you "clean and treat" plastic trim and chrome/metal trim on vehicles such as this? I rarely see any listing of trim protectants/treatments or chrome/metal cleaners/polishes in your list of car-care materials used.

Does BMW paint "respond" better to the Rupes compound and UNO ultrafine polish than other compounds and polishes OR are you just "experimenting" with this combo?? Is UNO ultrafine polish more like a jeweling/burnishing polish OR a true polish to remove compound haze-and-swirl marks OR both being pad-dependent. Just wondering how these two Rupes products compares to Scholls Concepts compounds and polishes.
I just do not see a lot of reviews or experience with Rupes compounds and polishes in this forum.

ANOTHER outstanding job on this BMW. It is hard to tell from the photos but it looks more black than a deep dark blue. Sometimes the background environment objects and sky reflections"distort" the true color of a darker vehicle.

Wow! a bunch of questions...i`ll try to address them one at a time.

Black plastic trim. I`ll clean with Carpro Eraser. I coat with Carpro Dlux.
(Dlux lasts, darkens slightly, but it needs a little finesse to apply)

Chrome. I use Sonus Chrome Polish or Poorboy`s World Chrome Polish
Use caution when using these products as some "chrome" is "chrome" covered plastic.

BMW paint (like all paints) are different. Each one takes its own "test spot" to see what products it likes.

UNO ultrafine polish is an ultra-fine light cutting level abrasive polish that contains no fillers and leaves a crisp, clear finish.

Scholl Concepts "Shock 2 Cut Extreme Compound" is an extraordinary High-Performance Cutting Compound!
Very little (if any) dusting. It finishes down incredibly well as well as creating a superior high-Gloss 1st step finish.

Scholl Concepts S30+ Nano Compound is a fine polish designed to remove minor defects, light swirls, micro-scratches, holograms, etc.
Scholl S30+ Nano Compound, fine abrasives level minor defects as they break down even further to burnish to a high gloss.
Intelligent Powder Technology (iPT) Shock 2 Cut Extreme Compound and S30+ Nano Compound make a terrific 1-2 punch.

I`ve recently been using Rupes DA Coarse High-Performance Cutting Compound with excellent results. They have low dust and easy wipe off.
Rupes has a Rupes DA Blue Coarse Cutting Foam Pad but I prefer the Lake Country HDO Blue Cutting Pad with Rupes Blue DA Coarse.

I`ve become a big fan of the new Rupes DA Blue, Yellow, White products, and pads. I`m still learning to use the Rupes Blue DA pad.

I suggest you give them a try. I`m sure you will be happy with the results.

Re: 2009 BMW 750 Li - A Miracle Detailing - CQuartz Finest Reserve

Merlin (and Sizzle Chest and Mike lambert as well!):
You know that as Captain Obvious I ask a whole lot of questions about specifics to your methodologies, opinions, and reasons why you use certain detailing products. My reason is two-fold:
    1) Because I am a (very!) nosy detailer and I think that there are other Autopians who have the same questions as myself
    2) My high regard and respect to all of you as very successful detailers who I would like to emulate. If "imitation is the highest form of flattery", then I am guilty as charged.

So to all of you, "Thank You" for taking the time to answer my many questions.
I do think we all benefit and learn from the best AND I (we) get to see some of the most unique and special vehicles in the automotive world. As I have said before, "The best cars in the world get detailed by the best detailers in the world". All of you exemplify that sentiment.
