    2020 Audi A6

    2020 Audi A6
    Glacier white metallic
    Pearl beige interior
    765 miles

Client of mine traded in her older Audi that I did a while back on this brandy new one! It’s very nice!
Paint was in decent shape defect wise, but it was covered in contaminants. Paint was rough to the touch and you could hear that ‘sandpaper’ sound when running your hand over it. I ferrous decon’d it, clayed it twice with medium clay mitt and it still had rough patches.
I had to use some McKee’s37 coating prep polish to get the surface as contaminant free and ‘smooth’ as possible. It worked great: white pads were getting very dirty from pulling/removing whatever was on the surface off.

    The ‘details’:
    Adam’s tire and rubber cleaner.
    Adam’s wheel cleaner.
    Misc. wheel brushes.
Sealed wheels/calipers with water activated sealant.
    McKee’s 37 Iron remover.
    Adam’s car shampoo.
    Master Blaster to dry.
    DeFelsko PTG.
    Scangrip and GYEON lighting.
    Griot’s G9 polisher w/5” backing plate-Lonnie I used this just for you!
    Misc. foam pads.
    Griot’s correcting cream.
    McKee’s 37 coating prep polish.
    Misc. MF towels.
    McKee’s high gloss tire dressing.
    Adam’s glass cleaner.
    Metro vacuum.
    McKee’s 37 quick interior detailer.

    GYEON leather shield.

    Thanks for looking!

Beautiful, Scott. I`m a bit surprised to see that much reactivity on the front wheel from the iron remover...

    WOW Sizzle Chest:
You used your new G9 polisher with 5" plates JUST for me??!!! On a new Audi???
All kidding aside, how is did the G9-5" go?? I think a lot of Autopians are in the same boat as me and wondering should I stick with the 6" plate and pads OR change over to the 5" plate and pads and what are the advantages and disadvantages of going with a 5" plate and pad?? This is especially true for those Autopians who have a large collection of (and investment in) 5" or 5-1/2" pads that they already have.

I also wonder what kind of "contaminants" were on this car that required so much decon work?? Do the medium clay mitts induce light swirls, like aggressive rubbing of mild clay can do to removing excessive embedded contaminants (Ya, I know; then I am not using the "correct" claying methodology!)? McKee`s 37 iron Remover looks like it was working overtime from the purple-color streaks in the pics.

Oh yes, VERY nice work on this white Audi. I LOVE white when it is clean and pristine!

By the way, it is 88°F ambient temp with a Dew Point of 74°F, so it FEELS like Florida today in Green Bay Wisconsin. Yes, I am indoors with air conditioning. Two or three days out of the year are not so bad, but ALL summer long where you live like this?? NO THANKS!

Thanks Tom: Thanks!!! Yes, it `bled` a bunch, even on the paint, after I took those initial pics it increased in both volume and color.

Lonnie: Thank you! Yep! Just for you. You requested it on a post not that long ago!!

I liked it. Now, it was a big vehicle and a 6" pad would`ve made it go a little faster, but I had to try it out for you! It worked as well as my old G6 w/5" plate. Much more ergonomic though. A nice machine! Advantage: a little less `stalling` than with a bigger pad. I have a ton of 5.5" pads.

It is 90 ambient as I type this, 67% humidity, heat index is 102, dew point is 75. Come on down! LOL

    Sizzle Chest:
Do you see yourself keeping the 5" plate on the G9 and using it that way OR are you going back to the 6" plate for, as you alluded to, covering more area for the sake of efficiency??

How does this G9 compare to, say, the Rupes LHR15 MarkIII or the Flex XFE7-15, in terms of operating smoothness, ergonomics, and correcting/polishing ability?? And is the 9mm stroke comparable to the 15mm of the Rupes or Flex? Yes, you can give me (us Autopians) the "Cliff Notes" short version answer if you like.

The day I come down there in that tropical heat would be equivalent to the same day when you come up here in January to Green Bay WI when it is -15°F and the wind chill is -40°F. Although you can still wash vehicles in that heat. Kind of hard to do up here in January. But NO BUGS to contend with. Packer football fans at Lambeau Field HAVE to drink their beer(s) fast before it freezes in their plastic or paper cups at playoff games in that weather. (Wearing foamed yellow cheese hats on their head supposedly prevents the loss of brain cells when participating in such activities, hence the majority of Packer fans who do so! Not me because I do not drink such beverages and I have a huge disdain for "Cheesehead" moniker. )

    LOL Lonnie!

Yes, I will keep the 5" plate on.

I`d say it`s a darn good machine for the money. It`s pretty smooth, has good power, ergo`s are very good, and correcting/polishing ability is right there with the others. Obviously the 15mm will cover a bit more area due to the greater area the pad `travels` while using.

It won`t be my go to machine/first to grab, but I am glad I have it in my arsenal.

Scott - As always, amazing work (and photos!)!

That last wheel shot is awesome - it absolutely looks like it`s glowing.

Can I ask what the "water activated sealant" was for the wheels? Which LSP did you go with for the rest of the exterior? Thanks!
