    2001 Firebird Trans Am - WS6

Cleaned up the TA this past weekend. No before pictures because it honestly wasn`t that bad to start off with. Just the standard "love marks" from my car cover and one too many hasty wipedowns w quick detailer.

Wash was standard two bucket using Chemical Guys Citrus Wash (not Wash and Gloss) to strip the Blackfire Wet Diamond I had on there from last year, Iron-X followed my Nanoskin Auroscrub Fine. This soap is honestly the only Chemical Guys product I have ever used. It does a GREAT job stripping old wax and sealants. Then again - they make like 100 different soaps so their bound to get at least one right. (I use Adams for maintenance washes)

Polish was done with my new Griots G9 (love it!), LC Hydrotech tangerine pads and Sonax Perfect Finish.

Wheels - Griots Chrome Wheel Cleaner followed by Mother`s All Chrome Cleaner.

Exhaust tips - Optimum Metal polish w 0000 steel wool.

LSP was Clearkote Carnauba Moose Wax. It will be interesting to see how many of the old timers on here remember this stuff. It was one of Scottwax`s favorites on the forums here way back when. I do have Souveran paste wax but the Clearkote darkens the paint a bit more which I like. I still think there is nothing like a Carnuba "glow" on red paint.

    Dschribs !!!
Hope you and yours have been safe from this stuff out there..

Your T/A = Absolutely Beautiful, Clear, Glossy, Perfect !!!!
It looks like I just finished spraying the last coat of clear on it wet, and it is still drying...
    You killed it !!!
No one else has anything like this..
Thank you for all that perfect, detailed work !!!

Glad you are using my favorite L/C pad line - I have worn completely down to nothing a lot of the Cyan Hydro-Shreds..
But then, I use Rotary Power..

Six speed manual. Factory Hurst short throw shifter w a Z06 clutch from the Vettes of that year.

    Just turned 16,000 miles.

Car is 100% stock other than the dual exhaust tips. Why they didn`t build them that way I`ll never understand...

dschribs- Yes indeed, that looks great! Sounds like you were perfectly dialed-in on what it needed.

I *do* remember that Carnauba Moose wax, though I never used it...funny, I was *just* thinking about their Vanilla Moose!

And heh heh, I gotta admit I chuckled a bit at your expense when I read about the minor marring from the cover and wipedowns...at least I`m not the only guy who can`t get away with that! Sure all fixed up now though..and your low miles make me feel a little better about the limited use some of mine get.

In the history of all the Pontiacs we owned as a family growing up, to the incredible ones like the first Trans Ams on, there have been no other marque that had such a beautiful exhaust sound as the Pontiacs did.. They all sounded so good, and this goes way back to even the first Bonnevilles, GTO`s and on..
I can only imagine how awesome your T/A rolling red mirror sounds, Amigo !!!

I figured you`d remember it lol.

I have a bottle of Vanilla Moose as well. I use it on glass (by hand). Nothing I have found works as well for obtaining crystal clear glass. No streaks whatsoever.

Clearkote made some really good products. Their Quickshine quick detailer worked incredibly well.

I went to thier website recently and it`s no longer a valid site so I guess they closed up shop.

dschribs- Heh heh, you guys who can use things like VM on glass (and get good results) just kill me!

But on a more positive note, I agree about QuikShine (?sp?...man I hate those cutesy spellings!) and am still working through mine.

Thanks for posting the pics of your Red Pontiac Trans-Am WS6 and taking such good care of a museum-worthy example.
Yes, I remember Clearkoat Moose Wax from way-back and ScottWax`s recommendation was to wipe it off with Optimum Spray wax. I agree: NOTHING looks so good on a red vehicle as a true carnauba wax glow.

Not to hijack or get off topic, but did anyone see the proposed 2021 Trans Am? Looks wicked!!!

They have been out for awhile.

I was at the Trans Am Nationals in Ohio two years ago and a guy had one. They wouldn`t let him into the show because it wasn`t actually a Firebird/Trans Am.

He parked outside the show and honestly got more attention than any car inside the actual show.

Sigh...and here I took off all those decals. A solid black T/A without that [crap] has such a purposeful look IMO...if ya want fancy, do a tiger-stripe paintjob like the one in The Driver (for some reason I *still* think that car looked cool...).

At least it`s not a `98, they only had single side exit on the WS6.
