    2015 COPO CAMARO Race Car!

Collector client of mine had me back over this week to handle his new to him 2015 COPO Camaro. For those who don`t know this is a legit factory built race car. This particular one hasn`t made a pass at the track and was just sitting in someones collection before my customer bought it. It will be out at some point this year.

    Prep

Wiped down with ADG wipeout/clayed with nanoskin fine grade towel

Correction- The pictures are tough to tell but this paint was pretty hammered. Rupes 21 Mark ll, Mckees microfiber pads, IGL F1 compound. Finish polished with Hyper polish, Rupes 21, IGL Yellow foam pads.

Wheels/Tires- Wheels polished with Mckess fast metal polish, Hyper dressing on the tires

    LSP- IGL Kenzo

Re: 2015 COPO CAMARO Race Car!

By the way, "COPO" means Central Office Production Order (Yes, I Googled it so you would not have to). This is a throw-back ordering system by GM for and by dealers who had municipal or fleet customers who wanted vehicles that did not have "regular" vehicle options on them, but still needed a vehicle to meet a specific need , such as police cars with "cop" suspensions, brakes, or transmissions OR special company/corporate/municipality/government paint colors (why do you think Mary Kay awarded Pink Cadillacs to its top sellers.) You supply enough money and vehicle quantities, GM will build it. This Camaro was purpose-built to meet specifications for the NHRA Stock drag racing and no, it does not come with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) so it cannot be titled or licensed and hence, street driven.
According to the Chevy website only 69 of these are produced a year, in honor of the year 1969 when the original drag racing Camaro was introduced and perspective owners must submit their name for a lottery to become a buyer.

    Justins00ss:
    1) Which engine is in this one: the "base" 350, the normally-aspirated 427 , or supercharged 427?
    2) Does the Megs Detailer D170 Hyper Dressing become more "matte" in gloss on the tires in time? The photo shows the tires with a lot of gloss and I am not sure if this photo was taken immediately after application OR if the customer requested it that way and you "adjusted" the water-to-product ration to produce this particular "sheen" on the tires.
    3) Are you the one who used LA Totally Awesome (LATA) for decreasing/cleaning wheel wells? (Yes, the APC you can buy over-the-counter at Dollar General)

Nice workmanship on this Camaro. Not a Camaro or drag racing fan, though.

Engine is the supercharged 350. Th400 3 speed trans. Carbon fiber hood.

Hyper dressing will dull down a bit. These pics were shortly after applying. I use it mixed 50/50.

    Yes I use LATA.

Bare aluminum which is common on most drag wheels or show type aluminum wheels.

No doubt. That 2.9L Whipple displaces more than my tiny 1.6L four cylinder. Though, someday I`ll add a huffer to it

    Nice work, Justin

Saw one at a C8 reveal, should known better when guy said "Hey, go ahead and climb inside". Not too bad getting in but hauling my 6`2" self outta the thing without looking look a total goon was pretty much impossible

Then they fired it up inside: https://youtu.be/4Ga7dGJmRY0
