When Turkey`s Attack!!! 2020 Jeep Wrangler

So every so often I get an odd job. And this one ranks up there. I had a good client of mine reach out with a really bad situation. He bought his wife a brand spanking new 2020 Jeep Wrangler. About 4-5 days later a group of rogue turkey`s decided they didn`t like seeing there reflection and decided to go to town attacking it.

After assessing the damage and discussing options we decided that having me put my skills to work would be best. Instead of involving insurance and having multiple panels painted and possibly having a incident on a carfax show up on a new car.

    Wash/Decon

Hyper wash, Meguiars Iron Decon, nanoskin fine towel

    Wheels/Tires

Mckess foaming wheel cleaner gel, Tire rubber cleaner, Hyper dressing

Correction- Damp sanded the damaged areas with Mirka abralon 3in disks with the Flex PXE 2000 grit, 3000 grit and 3M 8000 grit disks. Compounded with Rupes 21 MK ll, Flex PXE 3in, Microfiber cutting pad, IGL F1 compound. Finished polished with 3D One and IGL Yellow foam pad.

The rest of the Jeep was one stepped with 3D ONE, IGL Yellow foam, Rupes 21 MKll, Flex PXE.

Boy the Flex PXE came in handy and made life much easier.

Wow is right. I`m afraid if that had been my Jeep a lot of homeless people would have been eating turkey the next day. Great job, man.

Excellent work. What that Jeep needs is an owner standing guard with a 12 gauge and 3.5”, 6 shot, turkey loads. Might take a couple of days/nights of vigilance but it won’t happen again. While that still won’t stop a bird bomb, the upside is that Thanksgiving is taken care of for the owner, his friends and family.

Haha. Thanks gents. He was more than happy with the results. And he learned his lesson and it will be staying in the garage when not being used.

Well, you need to check out a similar turkey-attack experience in this thread:
I desperately need to make my car look worse
My answer was post #4 in the above linked thread starting with:
Troublesome turkeys in Wisconsin end up dying from "lead poisoning" (AKA we shot them). However turkeys will cannibalize the dead ones, so leaving them lie by your car will NOT act as a deterrent.

By the way, this bird attack damage experience is another reason NOT to own a very reflective black-colored vehicle (Hypocrite, Captain Obvious! Isn`t your 2006 Ford Freestyle BLACK??)

Great workmanship on this Jeep. The owner is very fortunate to have someone with your detailing skill-set do what you did to his (OK her) Jeep.

I had the very same thing happen to my previous Camaro when I left it at work for a weekend when they were tilling my garage. Another reason to hate owning a black car.

    Awesome work justin as always.

    Justins00ss:
Did you remove the orange-peel from this vehicle`s entire paint/clear coat?? I cannot imagine that any American mass-produced new vehicle (especially Jeep) would come without some orange peel in its paint/clear coat.
I ask because one of the photos shows some pretty clouded-grey surface from wet-sanding to remove the deeper scratches that, I assume, also removes the orange peel. The end-result photos show a pretty "flat" and glossy surface without the fore-mentioned orange peel over the entire vehicle. Or at least the photos do not show any evidence of orange peel.

Also, did you use a Paint Thickness Gauge (PTG) and measure the paint/clear coat thickness during the correction process??

Justin luck for me I know you. If this ever happens to me you’ll know it because I’ll be at your door within 4 hours.

This just rearranged my terror list.

    1. Great white sharks
    2. Wild Turkeys
    3. Anacondas
    4. Polar Bear/grizzly bear
    5. Pack of wolves
    6. My wife when she’s pissed

    Those turkeys are no joke.

Honestly the newer black dodges/jeeps have pretty flat paint to begin with. And I`ve really enjoyed polishing them. There paint seems to polish up super nice. But yes I`m sure it leveled some of the minimal peel that was there.

Don`t be at all surprised if those turkeys make a return visit to a vehicle that reflective. I had an adult male attack one of my basement windows because he thought he was looking at a rival....thing was losing it`s mind. They begin their mating season fairly soon around me and they`re completely insane during it.

The final results look amazing. Great job!

While looking over the turkey damage I couldn`t help but notice some terrible swirls and other marring on the vehicle. In a strange, twisted, way the turkeys actually did them a favor by letting you fully correct the Jeep and making it look better than it probably did when they drove it off the lot.
