    1963 Porsche 356B `S`

    1963 Porsche 356B ‘S’ Super Cabriolet
    Signal red/black interior and top
    1.6 liter flat 4, ‘super 90’ 110HP
    4 speed manual transmission
1 of 933 produced worldwide for this year

My client wanted this ‘almost’ perfect 356 in the best shape it could be in. It just received a complete restoration…except for the paint.
It is full of swirls; swirl city! A shame for such a special car, but I think I will be able to change its appearance!

    The ‘details’:

    Waterless wash with McKee’s37 N914.
    Clayed with Griot’s medium mitt.
DoDo born slippery as clay lube.
Adam’s ceramic spray coating was used on the cabrio top.
    DeFelsko PTG.
    Scangrip lighting.
    Flex 3401.
    Rupes iBrid/nano.
    Rupes mini/3”.
    Misc. MF and foam pads.
    Griot’s fast correcting cream.
    Beta test polish.
    Misc. MF towels.
22ple Mistico Elemento Forte was the LSP.
    McKee’s37 high gloss tire dressing.
    McKee’s37 glass cleaner.
    McKee’s37 AIO leather cleaner/conditioner.
    Metro vacuum.

    Thank you for looking!

    Sizzle Chest:
Did you remove the badges/placards/signage before polishing or did you tape them off? What did you use on the chrome trim and rims and gold badges for a metal polish, if any?

When you said restoration EXCEPT for the paint, was this the original single stage red paint?? i am just wondering how you keep older paint looking so good for so long if it was/is "original", short of never exposing it to the elements or driving it and storing it in a temperature-and-humidity-controlled environment.

Also on the convertible top, was the lint from your drying it or was it already there? Good job using a sticky lint roller to remove it.
Is the coating you applied flexible enough or is it that it provides superior protection to this canvas fabric than say, Ragg Top??

Cannot say enough superlatives to describe your detailing workmanship or your photography skills. This is truly a unique Porsche and it ended up in the best hand for its "beautification". Thanks for posting it!!

Beta testing a polish?? Any remarks on its performance on this particular single-stage paint or other clear coats you may have used this on??
And what ever happen to the mini-polisher your were/are beta testing? (Yes, I am keep track! Inquiring (detailing) minds want to know OR Captain Obvious is just plain nosy!)

Taped off where necessary. They were in good shape and just needed a wipe down. I will usually apply a glaze to them to make them pop.

No, it was base/clear. Resprayed.

It was wool and red in color... Yes, it works great on tops!! I can`t say for sure if it`s superior to any of the other, Ragg Top, 303, etc, but I am liking it!

Yep, beta test polish, on par with a few other `finishing` polishes I have used. I`m still using it! Don`t know where they are in development/release with it yet, I have not heard!
