2018 Volt, correction and polishing, one pad, one product

New client with recent purchase with 75 miles. After removing all The slimy crap the dealership put on the car, we found 6 factory sanding marks. I was able to capture one with the camera. Correction was done with Griot’s correction cream on a microfiber pad which worked very easily. Started to use perfecting cream, but in all honesty it made no difference! So finished the entire car using only correction cream on a microfiber pad. Applied Modesta Primer with a black finishing pad using the GG6. Coated paint with Modesta BC04, wheels with BC06 and trim with Modesta EPC. Glassparency used on windshield, Nanolex on tires. Thanks for looking!

Awesome work and write up and pictures Mike!

Is the BOSS polishes non-diminishing abrasives?

If only the shipping charges and taxes and the customs cost would have been lower I would have tried out Griots Garage products long time ago. Seems like a solid brand.

Thank you! They have sub micron abrasives. Much smaller than Meguiars and much more of them. I would contact them directly and see if they have any suggestions.

Very nice job as usual! I can`t tell you how many times I have come across a new vehicle and after removing the glazes that they put on to make it look nice, how bad the paint really looks.

    Thank you.
You are not joking about the Dealership slimy crap. It took me several washes to break through to the paint.
When I did, the slimy crap was hiding blemishes that need compounding.

    Mike:
How DID you remove "all the slimy crap" to get down to the bare paint?? That seems to be a constant question in this forum about deep cleaning a vehicle and getting rid of ALL the contaminants and sealer, wax, or glaze on a vehicle BEFORE one starts the correction/polishing process.

Nice work on this Volt. Seems the paint has some orange peel in it from your photos, but most American-manufactured vehicles do to some extent. (Not sure about the Mercedes assembled in Alabama or the BMWs assembled in South Carolina). Wish Chevrolet made a gas engine-version of the Volt because the styling/design on it is SOOO much better than the Cruze, but that would be self-defeating now, as no one would buy an electric Volt.

Seems funny to see a Volt in your driveway after seeing high-end performance cars there. And what, no "Maryland Merlin" photos of the trees reflecting in the hood??!! I suppose that white does not reflect them so well or the overcast day did not lend itself to doing so.

I used Griot’s surface prep, iron and fallout remover and synthetic clay mitt. Cut and polished each section twice, first pass to assure any Sealant or wax was gone and the second to correct. I too find it an attractive car, in my opinion much more attractive than a Tesla. And half the price with no range anxiety!
