    2015 Porsche Cayman GTS

    2015 Porsche Cayman GTS
    29068 miles
    3.4 Liter flat 6, 340HP/280TQ
    PDK transmission
Track monster! Suspension is setup for track use, COBB tuned engine/intake/SOUL exhaust/etc.

This client contacted me about getting his street/track Cayman corrected and ceramic/glass protected. This was probably one of the most well maintained vehicles I’ve had in to date.
The paint was overall in good condition. Mainly swirls with no other defects worthy of being mentioned. He keeps his vehicle VERY clean. I was shocked at how clean the wheel wells and wheels were. Super sano! I like that!!

    The ‘details’:

    Washed with Adam’s shampoo.
    MF chenille mitt.
    McKee’s37 Iron remover.
    Griot’s medium clay mitt.
    Adam’s wheel cleaner.
    Adam’s Tire and Rubber cleaner.
    Misc. tire/wheel brushes.
Hyde’s Serum on rotors to help stave off rust.
    Master Blaster to dry.
    Defelsko PTG.
    Scangrip lighting.
    Rupes MkII 21.
    Beta test ‘mini/micro’ polisher.
    Griot’s Fast Correcting Cream.
Beta test 1 step polish/pad combo.
Optimum Paint Prep for final wipe down.
    McKee’s37 APC.
    LSP: Gtechniq CSL.
    LSP wheels/calipers: Adam’s wheel coating.
LSP wheel wells: Adam’s trim coating.
    McKee’s37 Hi Gloss Tire Dressing.
    SCG Pro Glass Cleaner.
    Metro Vacuum.
McKee’s37 Total interior cleaner for interior wipe down.

Just a bit of ferrous contamination...

    Getting glossy!

She bled some that’s for sure. But expected if it is used on a track. He must wash it a lot to keep those area clean.Would also expect lower quarters beat up from rubber and junk on the track.Maybe he tapes them before he races.LOL.Also when coating a car that color. Is anything like doing a white car.Meaning really can’t see where you are or where you been.Hope that makes sense.Great job again and what no 22 on it

Very nice work! Not me but it looks great now! What size is your lift? Buying one but haven’t decided on which model.

You’ll wonder what you ever did without it once you get your lift. I don’t even use mine much but once I had it I would never be without it.
Treat it like it`s the only one in the world.

Thanks all!!! Lift is a 5000XL. No 22ple on this one, budget didn`t dictate it. I have a bit of Gtech in stock though!

Great work and write up and pictures as always Scott!

My youngest nephew would have been loveing this car. For some reason he loves anything that`s yellow. He just turned 3 years old and have had this Obsession for little more than 1 year LOL. Awesome to be surprised on the other end that it was well maintained. The finish on that yellow is just amazing looking!

    Re: 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS

Once again Sizzle Chest, I see you are doing the "beta testing mini/micro polisher". Any idea when this unit will be available for release to the general detailing public? Thoughts/comments/opinions on its performance and comparison to Rupe`s Nano iBrid?? Inquiring minds want to know. (Or in your case, Captain Obvious, you are just plain nosy!) I have said in the past, "The best cars in the world get detailed by the best detailers in the world". I may have to amend that to, in your case Sizzle Chest, "The best detailers in the world get to try out all the newest detailing products and equipment." (Which is only fair and true about you, Sizzle Chest.)

VERY nice work on this elite and pristine Caymen GTS. Not a big fan of the color yellow, BUT when it is on a sports or performance super car, it just looks "nice". I was a little surprised at all the ferrous bleed during the decontamination, until I realized that the calipers look like iron/steel units and not carbon fiber (at least to my untrained eye) and that this GTS was used in the track. Do you use any other ferrous/iron remover other than McKee`s 37 iron??

That raises another question about carbon fiber discs; Do you have to treat them "differently" than iron/steel discs? IE, do you need to use a different degreaser around them or that the wheels/rims need to be removed because you should or cannot use stronger wheel cleaners to remove brake dust from the rim surfaces? You are one of a handful of detailers who will see cars with carbon fiber discs (and center locking wheel hub nuts!) on a "more frequent" basis, hence my question.

I also noticed you denoted "film" on blue painter`s tape in areas that I assume have film (Protective Plastic Film, or PPF) on them. Either it`s very thin film or that is it just hard to see on this particular yellow color or both.

    Re: 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS

Thank you and that`s cool Tony! He`s gonna be a car guy!!!

Lonnie: Thank you for the comments!!! No idea on a release date yet. It performed very well for the price point it is going to target. Not as `good` as my iBrid/nano, but it worked very well.

Yes, this car has iron/steel discs and not ceramic rotors. He also runs track/race pads and they are VERY metallic, so that is why it had so much contamination on the surfaces.

Yes, I treat them differently. Ceramics are porous and have the tendency to absorb some chemicals which can adversely effect braking, or be a cause for needing new rotors...and they are ridiculously expensive. A front rotor set is $11,500.00 for a 911. Insane! So I treat them with kid gloves.

I`ve used a bunch and find myself going back to McKee`s37. I like it and it works.

Yes, the `film` was for areas that had PPF on them so I didn`t forget.

    Cheers!

You must have one diverse coating cabinet, that`s for sure. Always interesting to pop into these threads to see what you`ve chosen for the subject at hand.

    Well done.

Thanks Budget...Yes, there are quite a few bottles in there! LOL

Coatings/crack: Thank you! Yes, I have done it before, I just usually forget to put them up and get into a groove and keep polishing/correcting. It definitely makes it easier.
