Justins00SS- Was doing the wing any more challenging than doing the body proper? I`d think you`d have to be a lot more careful, especially around its edges.

Honestly not to bad. Was pretty straightforward.

Been putting in more hours between work and this project.

Got all the wheel wells, suspension and rear end cleaned up, a little re-paint and sprayed with IGL Eclipse high temperature industrial coating.

Also had my son helping me install a new BMR double adjustable panhard bar.

Justins00SS- Nice to see your helper getting involved!

How do you plan to dial in the adjustable panhard bar?

The car already had one. All it does is give you the adjustable capability to center the rear end underneath the car. Especially if ride height changes. This car already had the same bar but was a bit rough looking etc.. Removed the old one and set the new one to the same length and installed it. Got it pretty much dead on right away.

4.11 with a locker. Little steep for a 3 speed with no OD.

Justins00SS- Ah, OK...glad you didn`t have to go tear up a parking lot to get it squared away.

Heh heh, 40 years ago 4.11s weren`t all *that* radical, I had `em in a few cars I used as commuters (on the highway). Used to be that 4.56/4.88 were the radical gears!

Is the diff a literal locker or a LSD?

Detroit Locker. It unlocks and locks (pops) going around corners but no where near as bad as a full spool lol

Heh heh...gee, that`s close enough to a full spool IMO! Thanks for responding, most guys who say "locker" aren`t set up the way you are

And I too think it`s great that your son is getting some hands-on with it. IMO you`re building some great memories there, and instilling some good values too.

Used to run lockers in Mustangs I drove (as Accumulator mentioned, 4.56’s are radical on the street). These rear ends can be quite disconcerting if you don’t know what to expect. First one I had was in a Boss 302 and the first time I drove it around the block I’d have sworn the rear end was falling out as it ratcheted around the corner. We’d always look in the junk yards for (N)odular carrier 9 inchers to build these on and of course you had to have 31 spline axles. I’d keep a set up of 3.50’s Limited Slip on the stand for Auto Crossing and 4.56’s Detroit Locker if we were headed to the strip. I know this sounds like a pretty low set of screws but I had both Boss 302’s and Boss 351’s that would run to well over 8000 rpm’s and they’d use every bit of it. If you could live with it they were the best “strip first” but still streetable rear end you could have.

Don`t you guys with those diffs find that they can cause issues when cornering (OK, cornering hard), especially in the rain? Eh, I find that even the wrong (conventional) LSD can compromise my driving, but that`s just me and I`m *NOT* flaming or anything..whatever works for you is right for you.

It just kinda reminds me of guys who say that an IRS "doesn`t really make a difference" in how a car handles...that`s simply not my experience.
