    Tesla wearing only the best

New client who called before delivery and asked what to tell the dealership to do to his car when it came in. Obviously we told him to not allow them to touch it, and after signing the Tesla waiver, they left it alone. Only found a couple of minor blemishes probably from transport. Cutting done with Griot’s correction cream on a microfiber pad using the 15 at speed 4, refined with Griot’s perfecting cream on a black finishing pad, finished with Modesta Primer on a Modesta polishing pad. Coated paint with BC04, to give at least 5 years of protection, wheels with BC06 with airbrush for 3-4 years of protection. Plastic trim with Modesta trim coating. Tires with IGL, and glass with Glassparency.
    Thank you for looking!

Nice work. Are you seeing improvement in Teslas paint work over time or are they plateauing?

I am asking the same question as Dan; what are you finding out about the paint/finish quality on Tesla`s.
Is it soft or are there a lot of "defects" in it? I have read in this forum that getting their paint to look good can be quite a "challenge". Extremely nice work on the Tesla.

What about GlassPerancy coating on glass? I do not think I`ve seen this before from you.

Seems you are developing a Mike Lambert trademark "Maryland Merlin" photo shot with the winter-bare deciduous trees reflecting in the hood (+1)!!

I do not think I`ve noticed the red-colored tread-plated caster-wheeled lockers before in your shop shown in one of the photos.
Who makes those?? Nice touch, too, with the dark grey-colored walls. That seems to be a new trend in detailing shops over the old white walls in aiding the viewing of a vehicle for defects, along with the use of newer LED lighting.

The paint is on par with most manufacturers, the problem in my area is the dealership guys! I haven’t had any problems with the Griot’s Boss system fixing any of the ones I’ve seen. I have seen paint overspray on the glass on the last 2 I’ve seen, but no evidence of repairs? As far as the cabinets, Gladiator brand. Very happy with them. The darker walls really do make a difference in the defects showing up. Thank you for the kind words!

Glassparency is a new product for us, very impressive glass coating that is extremely easy to use. Had it on mine for a couple months and no decline in performance.

MORE questions (what else is new Captain Obvious!)
How do you prep glass before putting on a coating; that is, what glass cleaning chemicals(s), microfiber clothes or other media, and methodology(ies) do you use to get glass clean and streak free? This has been the bane and arch mimesis for both professional and hobbyist vehicle detailers forever in this forum!

Before glassparency, I use Griot’s window cleaner and the microfiber glass towels they have. Glassparency comes with a pumice cream cleaner and a white scotchbrite pad. Used with water to scrub the windshield. If the windshield is extremely bad I’ve used Griot’s glass polish also with great results and no messy powder residue like that other companies products.

Great work! Have you done the Tesla gloss black yet? If not, you`re in for a treat.

Love the "Maryland Merlin" photo shot with the winter-bare deciduous trees...

Thank you! Yes, several black ones, no issues at all using the Boss creams. And they all were trashed from the dealership.

Mike, another grand slam! Looks great!

All the Model 3 cars I see in my area have these bizarre wheel covers that look like they`ve been spray painted (black). I`ve never seen one with nice wheels on it. Maybe an extra cost option? That completely alters the "look" of the car.

Yeah I hate those pie pan covers, these were extra. Thank you!
