2014 Mustang brought back to Shine

Newly purchased by this client who wanted it given a good going over and bring back the Shine. This car apparently sat outside because I’m talking millions of water spots! It made the car appear to be hazy! Correction done with Griot’s fast correction cream on a microfiber pad, at speed 4!, which really brought the gloss back. Refined with polish angel Primer on a yellow perfecting pad. Coated paint and wheels with cosmic V2, trim with Griot’s plastic and rubber, tires with Griot’s vinyl and rubber. Glass with Dr Beasley. Thank you for looking!

Great work as usual Mike. Do you allow the car to bake (sun or IR) to confirm that the water spots have been completely removed prior to coating?

[INSERT Usual praise for Mike lambert`s work here..]

Did you do that with the GG6 or with a Boss?

(Yes, I did see that "..at speed 4!" )

Sorry, used the 21 with a 5 inch pad. I’m not sure about in the sun, I think I’d give it at least an hour? 15 minutes I bake it.

All right I will ask how the heck does baking or letting the car heat up in the sun do to bring out old not fully removed water spots. Polish oils hiding them? I don`t know what else that I can think of right now but what would temporally hide them (my brains fried from lack of sleep so I cant think of other ideas). I know I have thought I removed water spots before and then the second the cars wet they stand out like sore thumbs.

My reaction when I wet the car down:

Sorry I’m just a dummy. What exactly is baking for 15 minutes. I thought that was letting it sit in the sun.

Re: 2014 Mustang brought back to Shine

Without trying to get the explanation perfect, I recommend you google Kevin Brown, he has a very good article on this problem. The short answer is , when the paint expands either from curing a coating with an ir lamp or sitting in the sun, the residue from the spots comes to the surface. Even after you have done a correction. When the paint cools, the spots stay on the surface.
