Tesla model 3 with the best!

This client found us on a Tesla forum and the Modesta website. First model 3 we’ve seen here but not the first Tesla. He wanted the best looking and most durability he could get so he opted for Modesta BC04.
After cleaning wheels with Griot’s iron and fallout remover, tires and wheel wells with Griot’s rubber cleaner, car foamed with Griot’s surface wash. Clayed using speed shinead lube. Correction with Griot’s correction cream on a microfiber pad, this basically gave a lsp ready finish. Refined with Modesta Primer on a Modesta polishing pad. All paint with BC04, wheels with Dr Beasley plasma coat, glass with Dr Beasley, trim with Modesta trim coating. All photos are after cutting and no refining. Thank you for looking!

The car looks incredible Mike! Great work. Question for you, why the plasma coat and not bc06 or a similar wheel coating? Your work is great so I`m very interested in your thinking behind the plasma coat.

Thank you! I just don’t have the facilities to use bc06, it must be sprayed on with a gun. If I have enough coating left I’ll do the wheels with that. Plasma coat seems to work very well though.

Re: Tesla model 3 with the best!

I know this is poor etiquette, but what did you think of the car? I saw a car-industry show where they described the electronics and drivetrain as military-grade while the design and execution of the rest of the car was akin to a Yugo.

So...just wondering about your impressions of it as "a car".

PS To re-parse what this car-industry consultant was saying, it was stated that the electronics/drivetrain were way more advanced than any car company is doing, but the basic car design, which every car company knows how to do, looked like it was done by someone that never designed a car before, and built by someone with no experience. The bottom line from this guy was just puzzlement about how sophisticated some of the car was (and how they could hit the price point at that level of sophistication), while they didn`t reach out to people who know how to design/build cars for the rest of it. He also railed a bit about the robotics in the factory (which has been highly publicized).

Thank you! All Griot’s products only at our shop. We are Griot’s distributors so I like to show what the products can do. As far as the car, I like the interior better than the other models as far as the dash layout. Nothing in front of the wheel and it looks good. You can tell they cut a lot of corners to make it more affordable. Carpet if you want to call it that is more like felt. The seat material has a very inexpensive feel to it. At 55k I think it could have been more Toyota if that makes sense.

Thanks for the reply! What kind of durability and cleanability are you seeing with the plasma coat? I currently use McKees wheel coating but I`m always looking for longer lasting or more affordable alternatives.

That’s hard to say, has lasted about 6 months on my car but I don’t use chemicals and was weekly. Haven’t had any cars come back yet for maintenance washes yet since we’ve been using it on wheels.

Don`t laugh! Who do you think is best poised to buy the assets and intellectual property from Tesla when it goes belly-up, perhaps sooner than later. Would you buy a "Toyesla"?

By the way, Mike ,the Tesla look marvelous. I am not sure of the initial exterior finish quality when the car was brought to you, as this has also been a point of contention, as Mr. Musk seems to think you are buying vehicle technology, not vehicle quality (like paint and finish). Then again, there are many of you professional detailers who "repair" (for a price!) brand new OEM vehicle assembly and dealership prep miscues. (New car detailing mantra: Do NOT bite the hand that feeds you!)
