Grand Cherokee re coat after body work

Coated this with Gyeon mohs plus about 3 years ago. At that time it was supposedly a five year coating on a new vehicle. It has held up okay with a very picky owner. After a minor tailgate collision, the insurance company agreed to pay for a recoat. We don’t just coat the damaged area here, unless it was a part removed from the vehicle. As you probably know no matter what a body shop says, there will be overspray, and we don’t take the chance of causing problems with the rest of the vehicle. Gave it a one step polish with Griot’s perfecting cream on a microfiber pad, then refined with Modesta Primer on a Modesta polishing pad. Coated with BC08 on body and wheels, Dr Beasley on glass and Griot’s black satin on tires. Thank you for looking!

    Mike,
    Beautiful clarity and gloss !!!!
It is always nice to get a vehicle back that you did before - the initial correction work was already done and you are taking it up to an even higher level if that is possible..
No one can make white look like you and your Team do it !!!
Thank you for all that hard, detailed, perfect work !

Great job as usual. How was the insurance convinced to pay for a recoating?

They are responsible for putting you back in pre accident condition. We’ve had a few spirited conversations with adjusters but once you explain it to them, they usually pay. And we tell them, the price is the price.

Great work and awesome finish you got on that white paint!

How was the condition on that well maintained coating after 3 years? Was the wash indused marring any noticeble after this time?

Very minor washing marks, but despite using cure water just laid on it.

I always tell people to ask the painter. To many variables to give you a specific answer. Is it water bourne, is it baked, how did the mix it, things like that. This happens to be a 90 day wait.

Ah, OK, thanks. Heh heh, I`ve given up on asking my painters since I usually seem to know more about such stuff than they do (even the good ones). Yeah, 90 has always been my minimum, though some (baked even) took a whole lot longer.

Actually, that`s a pretty decent way to gauge it. Does it smell stronger in the heat? That`s a clue
