Self Heal Plus: 2018 Durango SRT

I had an 11 day vacation that got mostly filled doing 3 vehicles. This is the third.

This gentleman found me via my website and wanted his Durango SRT done in the very best coating that there is: Feynlab Self Heal Plus. 7 year warranty. A mixture of 6 different chemicals on the paint....thickest coating around for maximum depth of shine and most protection. I hadn`t done a full heal job since last year so I was a bit nervous until I started along. It was very contamination-free but the paint seemed stained in some areas. An intensive cleaning and decontamination effort was put forth!

Here it is as it arrived:

    See the staining?

First up was to clean the wheels, tires and wells. The wheels were getting pulled so the barrels and calipers could be coated too. The paint was aggressively cleaned to remove the staining and in spite of the apparent lack of contamination, was shot with 3D BDX regardless. It was clayed with Riccardo yellow.

Here is one of the wheels as it`s getting coated:

The calipers and faces were coated with Feynlab Wheel and Caliper whereas the barrels were coated with DLux.

The paint was given a one step polish of Duragloss Squeaky Clean + white B/S pad + 3401. The non painted areas, other than the rear trim that was done with DLux, were coated with Ceramic. All the painted areas were treated to Feynlab Self Heal Plus, or Full Heal as it`s sometimes referred to. Here it is, inside and out:

Thanks for looking. I was very proud of this one!!!!

Great results. Dodge got it right with this generation of the Durango (even righter with the SRT). Only downside is you probably needed to fill the tank just pulling it in and out of the garage .

Looks great Richy, as always. Is the application of the self heal plus pretty tough??

Just out of curiosity, did you do anything different when you uploaded your pictures? I think that`s the first time all your pictures in one of your posts have opened.

Awesome work and write up and pictures! Nice car and that white paint looks beutieful.

Is there any certain way to heal the coating down the road if it gets marred?

And what is the thought about useing dlux at those places you do?

Yes, we had a 2011 Durango Citadel...it was gorgeous, but I couldn`t sell it as people were afraid of the HEMI.

Thanks so much Tom for both the comment and for taking the time to make it!

Thanks buddy! He wanted it to be as glossy as possible.

Dave, it`s a learning curve. I adapted myself to a little bit different way than what they suggest and it worked out better for me in this case. For any coating, you`ve got to be able to adapt on the fly.

Dave, that`s just it...I didn`t change a bloody thing! I used IMGUR just like before.

Thanks kindly Tony! To initiate the healing process, the panel needs to be heated up to 140F, which is not that hot. Sitting in the sun this time of year will exceed that temperature by tens of degrees. Hot water will also do it as will a heat lamp...as long as the panel reaches that temperature, the healing happens. It`s not limited to X number of heals either...you heat it up, it activates...period. It`s in its DNA so to speak.

I use DLux for exterior trim as it is my favourite. I also use it on barrels b/c it`s cheaper and I figure it`s going to last about the same as the Feynlab Wheel and Caliper. Maybe if I could buy a large size of W & C, I`d just use it as it would be more cost effective then.
