Detailing in a Blizzard! 2015 SHO Taurus gets corrected and coated

So I had this job scheduled for the previous weekend but had to reschedule due to a bad storm coming through and knocking out power here in Mass. Fast forward to Sunday and this 2015 SHO Taurus finally got dropped off for me to get corrected and coated. I started on Monday by getting the interior detailed along with getting the initial prep work and I got a head start on the correction in foresight of the pending blizzard that was coming Tuesday. So Tuesday I woke up early while power was still present and managed to get this thing knocked out and coated during the day all in between a couple rounds of snow blowing! Thankfully we didn`t loose power and The car was completed on schedule. The client and I agreed that it should stay here for a couple extra days until the roads are better.

    Interior

Mckees 70/30 leather shampoo, Mckees total interior cleaner, IGL Dash protectant, Mckees carpet and upholstery cleaner

    Engine Bay

    LATA, Hyper dressing

    Wheels/Tires

Mckees foaming wheel cleaner gel, LATA, Hyper dressing and Mckees Gloss tire gel

    Wash/Decon

Hyper wash, Mothers speed clay, Mckees waterless wash as lube, Goof Off for sap removal

    Correction

Initial test spot was with Rupes green pad and Mckees new FC717 on my G21. I ended up switching to a BOSS microfiber cutting pad with the FC717 which worked awesome and finished almost LSP ready. Finish polishing was handled by my Duetto with a Rupes yellow pad and M205. Adams swirl killer mini was also used.

Trim dressed with Mckees trim restorer

    LSP

    IGL Quartz 2 year coating

    After wash and decon process

    Initial test spot

    All done

Polishing and snow blowing all day your arms must have been a couple of limp noodles at the end off the day.

Thanks Dan! I am glad I didn`t loose power either! Haha. Owner will be picking up tonight or tomorrow morning and dropping his explorer off for the same treatment.

Looking at these pictures makes me want to own a black car. You know how hard it is to make someone who is detail oriented want a black car?

    You did a great job.

    Justins00s:
What did you do for the hard material in the center console?? It seems like it is a matte-finished and/or hard-anodized brushed aluminum that will not take regular vinyl protectant at all and requires some thing else to make it shine, like a mild non-abrasive car wax. I`ve used S100 Wax on brushed metal or fake-metal plastic with some success (at least to my discerning OCD eyes) but I am not sure about this "matte-finish" and how to "properly" detail it.

I ask this because we (it`s my wife`s actually) bought a used 2015 Taurus SEL AWD (a "poorman`s" SHO) and the fore-mentioned interior console pieces are a challenge. They streak with an interior QD, at least in my limited experience!

Also, how do YOU clean touch control /navigation screens? Seems to becoming standard equipment on many cars, even low-end "economy cars" these days.

When you say Hyper Dressing, I assume its Meg`s Detailer Line D170 diluted 3:1?? Seems like a cost-effective engine compartment protectant.
That, the ubiquitous LATA (yes, it is the Dollar Store`s L.A. Totally Awesome APC ) that you use as your degreaser. I guess I find it hard to believe it is that effective on engine compartment and wheel-well greasy, grimy dirt and gunk.
