10 Year Old 7 Series goes for a Heal

This is the same gentleman that brought me the GLS 450. It`s a 2008 750i and had never been done before. The swirls weren`t crazy either...I was kinda expecting worse. Good thing, because I was going to be pulling wheels on a 10 year old BMW that had never had the barrels cleaned for brake dust before!

Here it is as it arrived:

First up was the wheels. I broke out the big gun for these and used Megs WB. That was followed by Zep Citrus and then a demoted wash mitt using 3D Pink Soap. The faces were done the same. The tires were cleaned with Zep 505 and the wells with LATA.

The car was foamed and then washed with 3D Pink Soap.

The car was then clayed with a clay towel.

The wheels were going to come off and get extensively cleaned and then coated. The barrels were coated with DLux while the faces were coated with Feynlab Wheel & Caliper. The plastic wells were coated with Feynlab BLACK Plastic. This is a coating with a black dye in it...talk about great on faded wheel wells!!

    When I re-install the wheel, I put Bronze Anti-Seize:

Here`s the level of damage to the paint:

The paint was corrected using my Flex 3401 + 3D black wool pad + M100 followed by CarPro Gloss pad + M205, also using the 3401. The parts that can`t get treated with Self Heal Lite (it generates heat as it is curing and is not good for plastic), were coated with Ceramic, except for the side and rear glass that got Ceramic Lite. The paint was coated with Self Heal Lite and then topped with Ceramic Lite. It was then baked in. I had this car a few days to do, but I ended up having to work quite late the night before going back on shift, so I had to deliver it at night. Therefore, all the after pictures are taken in my garage. How I would have loved to show this car gleaming in the sun!!

    Thanks for looking!

Great work, that car was in pretty good shape for 10 years old and now it looks perfect.

Wow. Super job on an excellent example. That car was well cared for as I`ve see worse swirls on brands new black cars.

Yes, it could have been much worse. The paint was very hard though; I was surprised.

Awesome Awesome job (again). Here`s my question, you take wheels off the car frequently. What kind of setup do you use? I`ve got jacks and jack stands, is that your approach? A little Googling before the car arrives to understand jack points, torque specs, etc and you are off and running?

Looking good on the 7. What`s your thoughts on the 3D soap with the foam cannon? I`ve been debating trying it but I`m your pics it looks more runny/watery than CG Honeydew snow foam that I`m used to.

The one thing I must have before pulling the wheels are the torque specs. The jack points are pretty obvious if you get on your back and look. I first loosen the lug nuts then jack up the wheel enough so it just clears and then remove the wheel and do one at a time. I have a Snap-On torque wrench.
