    Trunk Lid

My cousin dented her old trunk lid and got a new one from the auto wreckers and asked me if I could make it look any better then it was so I told her I`ll see what I can do then I used Mothers claybar followed by Mothers 3 step system she was happy with the results and gave me $25

How great is that? Being able to pick up a part that matches the color of your vehicle that is actually in good shape is a rare feat indeed. Nice job on getting it to match the rest of the car.

I think he said something about having to match the rest of the car to the trunk lid since he`s polished it out

Considered that a possibliity but we all know that 2 cars painted the same color the same day, 5 years down the road can look dramatically different depending on how they were used and how much sun they`ve seen. I learned this lesson in spades when I tried to do something similar a number of years ago. I tried to acquire a rear spoiler without painting it for a white Bonneville SSE that didn`t come with one. I found perhaps 6 different white wrecked Bonnevilles (same paint code, there were actually 2 whites) that had spoilers in great shape. None were close to the factory paint of a 2 year old well maintained car that I owned. Ended up having it painted, even then if you knew what you were looking at you could see the difference. Never ceases to amaze me.

Hadn`t thought of it that way, finding a color-matched trunk lid in good shape. I suppose you could look at it as polishing out a car one panel at a time.
