`55 Chevy, `56 Chevy, `63 Austin Healy 3000 Mark II

EDIT: I was able to get outside shots of the `55 and `63 Healy today when I went back to do a couple more cars. The `56 was already trailered up unfortunately.



I detailed these three for a customer who will be selling them at the upcoming Dallas Mecum Auto Auction. He also has a `61 Chevy bubbletop with a dual quad 409 and an A12 440 6-pack Dodge Superbee we will be taking care of later this week. There are 4 cars he will be bidding on, so he is trying to make room for hopefully at least a couple new acquisitions.



All three were in pretty good shape, but the black one could use a full correction. With 2 days total to take care of 5 vehicles, there just isn`t enough time for something like that. The goal was to clean them up and take care of any major paint issues without going overboard. Both Tri-5s are drivers so while not filthy, they did show signs of somewhat regular use.



The engines were cleaned mostly with ONR, with a couple areas getting a boost from Optimum Power Clean diluted 3:1. Interiors were cleaned with Woolite/water diluted 20:1 for the vinyl/leather and 3D Carpet Shampoo for the carpets, mats and fabric seats in the `55. The vinyl was dressed with Optimum Protectant Plus, the leather with Duragloss #221 Leather Conditioner. All three were washed with ONR, lightly clayed with Clay Magic blue clay. Polishing for the `55 Chevy and the `63 Austin Healy was done with Optimum Hyper Polish using an Optimum microfiber polishing pad, while the black `56 was polished with Meguiars #205 and a Meguiars yellow foam polishing pad-it had single stage, very soft paint so I wanted to use something with enough cut to remove what we could in one step but still finish well on the soft paint. Both Chevy`s were sealed with Optimum Opti-Seal, the Austin Healy with Mitchell and King Rannoch Paste Wax. I felt a British car deserved a wax from the UK. Left the paint looking deeper and wetter than I was able to capture on film.



All the pictures were taken in the garage, the owner had places to go when we finished so there wasn`t time to move everything out for pictures. Depending on time and where he has the cars when we come back for the other two, maybe we can get some better shots then.

Did you see the hidden gas cap behind the driver`s side tail light on the 56? As a child I played with that quite a bit. Used to fly off the vinyl seat and hit the solid steel dash during emergency stops. Good times.

Looking GOOD. I could look at the tri-fives and classic bow-ties all day long. I`m jealous. They look like you have them ready to bring good money at the action. Would love to see the 409 bubble top if you ever get the chance. Thats second on my all time wish list benind a 61-62 vette.

Thanks everyone! Love working on 50`s through 70s cars, styling changes every year, multiple engine, interior and trim options so even the same cars can be different from each other.
