This owner has a thing for black cars and wanted his 2007 Tuxedo Black E350 restored to full gloss and original luster now that she`s rounding 85,000 miles. I had a chance to do some prior walk arounds with the customer when I performed just a Stage I to his black Tahoe weeks before. Upon arrival, the car was already scrubbed by the dealership as it had been in for service. So we did a walk around again while she was clean to review all the areas of concern; noting chips on the hood, bumper and doors and of course-heavy swirling. This gig ended up becoming a 2 day gig, totaling 12.5 hours of work. The weather was uncooperative both days; day one being sunny but cold and so windy that I had to retract my canopy. The second day was warm but overcast, so after shots of all the hard work are a bit lack-luster without direct sun shots.

    Process:

Wheels rinsed/cleaned with IronX and CG Grime Reaper/various brushes.

Exhuast tips scrubbed with P21S polishing soap

Foamed body with CG Citrus Wash n Clear/washed with grout sponge and boars hair brush in the crevices.

Clayed with medium grade bar and washed again, then towel dried and took her for a spin to spit water from crevices and daubed those up.

Applied black paint to all chips, leveled with 1000grit and 3000 grit Trizact on GG 3"

Center of front clip was sanded with 1000, then 3000 trizact to reduce pitting effect.

    Sanded areas were restored with Flex and PFW/105, H20 Cyan/105, H20 Tang/205 and H20 Crimson/85rd

Swirls removed from body with Flex and PFW/105, and H20 Tang/205.

Tight areas were restored with GG3" and MFDA/300 or 105 and MFDA/205

Door jambs shined up with GG3" and MFDA/301

This car was a dusty MESS when I finished all of the polishing work, so I mixed up CG`s grime reaper in the foam cannon and let it go to work loosening up all of the polishing oils. After drying her off, the body lines and molding were q-tip cleaned to pull out all of the embedded compound.

Dialed the Flex back to speed 3 with a gray wax pad and laminated the fresh paint with Collinite 845 for a super black finish.

Click-click BOOM! Had to bring out all the guns for this one, I had a pile of spent pads off to the side.

Really wish I had taken an after shot at this same angle to see the refinished look.
