Got a call a few weeks ago about these two cars, but the chances of rain over the last two weeks (which never materialized...) put them off until today. Both are fully documented numbers matching cars. The Chevelle has around 42,000 miles on it with a 375 hp L-78 396 big block, M-22 "rock crusher" 4 speed and the F41 heavy duty suspension. Owner even has the original window sticker, the car was just over $3700 new. The Corvette was owned by a lady doctor who traded in a `59 Cadillac on it. The engine is the base 275 hp 327 and the transmission (sadly) is a 2 speed powerglide. The Corvette also has factory a/c and around 55,000 miles. Both have had a single repaint and both interiors are mostly original.
Both were polished via my Meguiars G110 using an orange LC Hydro-tech light cutting pad and Optimum Hyper Polish, the Corvette was also polished with a yellow Meguiars polishing pad and Clearkote`s Pink Moose. The Chevelle was sealed with Optimum Opti-Seal and the Corvette with Clearkote`s Carnauba Moose. The engines were just dusty so I used Clearkote`s Quikshine to clean them, tires and fenderwells dressed with Armor All. My son cleaned the interiors using Woolite HE/water at 20:1 dilution on the vinyl (and leather seats in the Corvette) and carpets with BioKleen`s Traffic Lane Cleaner. Leather seats in the `Vette got Leather Master`s Leather Vital, vinyl in both was dressed with Optimum Protectant Plus.
Both cars really need corrections (the Corvette had some horrible buffer trails) but I was able to make a significant improvement in both and the owner just really isn`t interested in going nuts on them. However, he wants me back every 4 months, so hopefully a few more polishing sessions will get rid of what is left.
