This car was handed down to the owner from her father who passed away. It has bee semi restored both on the interior and exterior. Interior had all new carpeting, but that was about it. Brand new (1 year old) paint job that came out 99% perfect....there were a few sanding marks below the clear that were not coming out unless I sanded, but the owner said NO! LOL car is garaged all the time and hardly ever driven.

I could only get a couple pics of befores highlighting the defects...this paint color was hard for me to picture given the lighting conditions - halogens showed a flawless finish before I even started, even in the garage with it being dark and closed up....I went out and bought halogens for this detail and didnt even use them...just pulled it in and out of the garage a few times to check the work.

Here is what the whole car looked like...halograms and RIDS, swirls galore and faded chrome everywhere...

here are the finals...98% defect free, chrome brought back 80% (stained and pitted/rusting in some spots)

Overall, it took 8 hours with the PC alone...I only had two PFW pads to use on the rotary, so I didnt want to deal with those gumming up on just the trunk lid, so I went through 8 5.5" orange pads and the PC....next time the rotary and PFW is getting used...:hairpull:hairpull:hairpull

    Process:

    -ONR wash

-megs blue clay with last touch/water lube

-megs 105 via PC and 5.5" LC orange X 2 over the whole car - one working it in and lots of pressure, one faster to cleanup marring and left over swirling

-Megs 83 via PC and megs 6.5" yellow pad worked in and residue left on the car

-Menzerna FPII via PC and LC 6.5" blue pad laid over the top of 83 - take advantage of the micro abrasives I might not have broken down 100%, and also to save a wiping step

-clearkote red moose glaze viz PC and tan megs pad

    -pinnacle souveran by hand

-chrome with one grand chrome polish

    -tires with megs hyper 2:1

    -glass with megs concentrate

oh and this one was a freebie...they are supposed to be taking it to local car shows and what not. Hopefully they do so that I can put my flyers all over it and get some business...otherwise it wasnt worth my time of effort....LOL but it was a fun one and one for the portfolio...2nd classic I have done - first was a 58 rolls royce!!!

Man, I`m sorry to hear it didn`t work out from a business perspective, but you did some awesome work on that car. I`ve never seen that color before - it looks fantastic.

I like the process too - FPII over DACP residue...something I never would`ve thought of on my own. And Souveran over RMG....slurp! That finish is incredible.

Yep - megs 105 has about a 20 second working time with a PC before it starts to dust, only about 10 second with a rotary, which is why I got two rounds of 105 done in 3.5 hours

then megs 83 in about 1 hour

    FPII in about 45 min

    rmg in about 20 min

souveran in about 15 min by hand

washed wheels and tires in about 10 min - just dusty

    dressed them in 5 min

ONR wash was about 15 min

    clay was about 1 hour

    windows 15 min

    chrome about 45 min

total was about 8-8.5 hours exterior only
