So a client calls and tells me he wants his Lambo detailed, cool I say and schedule a time. The night prior to the apppointment he informs me that he wanted to replace the clear bra but that it didn`t go so well...um yeah

Notice the matte black finish from left over adhesive.

    Let the grinding begin...

    Getting there...

Finally able to do a test buff on the left side...

RIDS all over the hood from the 3m wheel, plastic razor blades, WD40, Contact Ceaner, Prep Sol, GooBGone, Lighter Fluid, Heat gun, hair dryer and god knows what else to get the adhesive off...

    Some spots needed wet sanding...

Never thought it would get there...

I`ll get some final pics when I finish the rest of the car, I ran out of weekend!

Fantastic job, you...not the bra installer. That had to be a fun day removing goo for hours.

Looking at those pics and reading how you took that clearbra off, I must award you the "Cahones The Size of Saturn" Award. I would sh*t myself looking at what it took to take it off from the 4th pic on...Wow! :goodjob

Yeah, even a guy that installs clear bras came by and he said he`s never seen one this bad, he had no idea how to get this adhesive off either. It just laughed at the 3m adhesive stuff. We think they used that plastic stuff you put down over carpets, I`ll have to take a pic of the stuff, crazy how thick it was!

Use a steamer, it will take the adhesive right off.

But use the steamer in the first place, the film will peel right off the car in a matter of minutes.

Hot water is also helpful for removing the film. It heats the glue evenly.

That being said, sometimes old film just won`t come off smoothly, no matter what you do.

P.S. Cool detail on the lambo.

:xyxthumbs That was step one, actually had a 3M installer come by the shop and after a few hours he was stumped, he said he`s never seen one so "stuck" on before.

The steamer was the first the 3M installer grabbed, pic one was that result. Actually the bumper and front fenders came off relatively (as opposed to the hood) easy but the hood and mirrors were something the tech couldn`t identify. It was so thick you could stab it with a screw driver and not puncture it!

*Also let me just add, I did not go into this blindly. When I heard what it was he wanted to do I immediately started searching to see what the best approach and what items I would need. Everything, and I mean every process described as "how to" did not work on this car. I spent 87 dollars on every "go to" process before finding a combo that worked.
