Never thought I was going to do this one, but the owner called yesterday and I said bring it on over. He bought a new truck so he will be selling the jetta. So he only wanted a one-step polish.

I took the before pics last week at work.

    Took these interior befores today:

    Process:

    Wash/clay/wash

Wheels cleaned with PB SnR twice. :nervous2:

Tires and wells scrubed with AM777 1:4

    Tires got 1x Z-16

EC/OP mix white CCS pad rotary 1600

ZAIO white LC pad PC6 on paint/glass (sans windscreen)

    1x Z5pro (no ZFX)

CS on paint, glass (sans windscreen) and trim.

    Z8

    Exhaust tip cleaned with ZPC/MF.

    Interior:

Vac for an eternity. Dry brush assist.

Steam all hard interior surfaces and wipe clean with MF, some APC on sills.

    Z-26 (90% Z-10/10% Z-16) to trim.

    IG on Glass.

As soon as I got it outside.... .....exhaust tip.

    Much beter:

VW has a PITA carpet to vac. It took me 1.5 hours to get all of that crap out of the carpet. I ended up using a soft brush (dry) to pull/move the dirt out of the carpet.

Like everybody says the VW clear is hard. Doing a 1 step with the rotary and white CSS pad, I got about 80-85% of the swirls out, reduced the water spots by 60%. The deep etching spots would not budge at all. I even broke out a yellow CCS pad just to see how that would do on the deep etching in one section of the hood. Not much luck at all and it had to be followed with the white pad to get out the micromarring. IMO alot of clear would of been killed off to get the etching out.

anyone who has done vw and audi interiors can respect a clean one. especially the recaro seats on the gli have been stubborn. the pile of the carpeting is so low, its hard to vacuum. if you go to aggressive it truns into "afro-carpeting". i use this shampoo from walmart. it is great value brand named and it is in a red can with yellow writing. same isle as the folex. it is a foam and it gets into the carpet, then the foaming action lifts dirt up. you can actually see the dirt lifiting up on top of the foam. 97 cents a can, and a can will do a whole car.

If you think VeeDub carpet is tough...give a Mazda RX-8 a try. I swear it is velcro.

I thought VW carpets were bad. Hyundai and Mitsubishi carpets are even worse.

I had a Mitsubishi Galant to do a shampoo on...I thought I had to kill myself before the carpets would come clean...they take HOURS to do!

BC, Thanks for the tip. Will pick up a few cans and have them ready.

Andrew, Thanks for your kind words. I think this is about the 10th or so vehicle that I have used ZCS on. I was a beta tester and with early versions I did have a few cars that did not "dry" in less then 30 mins. I think I was using too much at the time.

The key to ZCS is use very little, again very little and work it into the paint 2-3 times with the cotton app. Today was 60Ă‚° out and low humidity, ideal conditions for ZCS application. 80% of the ZCS was gone in 15-20 mins and a few high spots in under 30 mins.

I will keep that in mind. When the owner came to pick up the car he told me he tried to vac it a few months ago, but gave up after 10 mins. :grinno:

A few more to add to the list.

One of the rear carpets had somekind of stain. I used a stiff brush dry and feel as though I got lucky getting that out.

    Awesome turnaround, Bryan!

I feel your pain, I really do. I dread VW details because of the cheap carpet, just a real PITA to vacuum...and Subaru WRX`s aren`t much better (for future reference!). You did a he!! of a job on that interior!

Scott, Thanks for your kind words. Sounds like another car with fun carpet to add to the list. :hairpull

Silver has it good points. The fact that you can`t see the swirls has got to be one of them.
