Porsche 997 Carrera S

Here is my latest detail. The car belongs to my brother in law. He has always been very picky with his cars, but he is becoming more knowledgeable in the detailing scene because of me sharing all the great info that I have gathered on this forum. He is becoming an obsessive detailer just like myself. I even got him cleaning his undercarriage and now he wants to take his wheels off and give them a thorough cleaning and claying front side and back side.

He has had this car for a little over a year now with only ~ 5,000 miles. Of course, the dealer swirled it up moderately. Nothing too severe, but definitely unacceptable for an autopian. After spending many hours perfecting the finish I can honestly say that the car is now virtually swirl free. Here are some pics of the finished product...

Is the paint hard or soft?

Wash- Meguiars NXT

Clay- No claying

Initial Polish- Menzerna IP w/LC orange pad (yellow pad) on some areas) via PC

Final Polish- Blackfire SRC w/LC white pad via PC

Glaze- XMT machine glaze via PC

Wax- Pinnacle Souveran

Tires- Armor All Endurance Gel

Interior- Nothing done to interior

Don`t know about clnfrk, but I find the paint to be soft and easily marred, especially on the front and rear plastic "bumpers"

I couldn`t agree with you more. Marring on the front and rear plastic portions are much harder to remove also. Definitely soft paint.

I have no idea exactly how long it took, but I did stretch it out over 2 days. I did take many breaks in between also.

Sorry, I do not have any before pics. I seem to always forget to take pictures beforehand, but once all is said and done the first thing I think about is taking the pics to post here.

No, I did not take the wheels off to clean them. The nice thing about them is that the spokes are wide enough for me to be able to reach in there with my hand and a microfiber towel and clean all the way to the edge of the wheels.

I think that traditionally, Porsche paint is soft

Oh man... wood accents? Not what I`d get in a "P" car, maybe in a Benz, but not a Porsche.

Nice work on the engine bay!! I know how much a PITA it is.

Yes, Porsche paint is soft, try not to breath on it. Wiping has to be done with ultra plush MF`s and have a few on hand to change often.

I find that the SONUS leather conditioner is the closest thing to new Porsche leather smell. It doesn`t smell good out of the bottle, but what it DOES do is release the tanning chemicals and oils from when it was first done. It refreshes the leather back to the natural unique clean smell that I`ve only found in Porsche cars. It was developed by DavidB who also is a "P" car owner. He used the skins from Porsche still in plastic bags when he was going to change a seat, but kept them. This is how it got matched. Put it on the leather, close the doors and open later to be greeted by the same smell when it was new. Very cool! Prior, I used Zaino Z-10 on all other leathers, but found it too strong an odor for Porsche. Still use Z-10 on other leathers.

I`m sure he`s a member of RENNLIST!
