The subwoofer is very big but I actually am not sure how big the driver is. It pumps out great bass if I want it, but I`m an audiophile so the midrange was the most important to me. It can create vocals so naturally like a great sound system.

Here are some interesting facts on the system:

    1. Even though Levinson does not make speakers, the Lexus used ML designers to create the speakers. ML is owned by Harman International which owns several top brands including the super quality Revel speaker line.

    2. The DAC in the Lexus system is real ML gear and has been engineered to high end standards.

    3. The real Mark Levinson has a new company Red Rose Music in NYC. I actually know Mark and he got me into Super Audio, the new hirez music format which is amazing.

The system I have has 11 speakers, but the 14 speaker system in the LS430 is even better with better midrange. The LS also goes to 60 in under 6 seconds (5.9). Not many people realize that. It`s a stealth rocket and I hope I get one some day.

Lee-I hope the Levinson system sounds better in your car than in the LX470. Not that is sounds bad, but it wasn`t as awesome as I had heard. Sounded like a Bose with better highs in the SUV. :nixweiss

Have you ever had the opportunity to listen to the system that comes the Lincoln LS? I believe it is the first automobile to be THX Certified and it`s supposed to be downright awesome.

I`m pretty sure it`s Souveran, and I think the guy said it was special order / BMW Individual perhaps?

It`s definatley either part of the `Individual` program, or Alpina, who tuned the car.

Yes it does. For some reason the system sounds better in the GX and LS than the LX.

I think I know another factor that may have caused the system to sound poor. The tone controls at flat response are off (even the Lexus audio team told me this-conveniently the Lexus` regional HQ is in my neighborhood). You have to boost the midrange and highs on the sound control quite a bit to get a natural balance but once locked in it sounds great. Mine is set with flat bass and both the midrange and highs near the highest setting. ML is working on this I am told for the 2005-2006 models. Also they are looking into hirez music playback and Toyota just signed a deal with XM radio (Lexus is playing catchup with Cadillac and Acura on this one).

Bob Harley of the Absolute Sound, one of my favorite audio critics, secured a Lexus SC with the ML system and wrote a rave review along with his colleagues.

    Pinnacle Souveran was the LSP.
