Before and After of a New Miata

This car is only about 8 months old but it had some pretty bad swirls from the Dealer/ Car wash. My method today was:

Wash

Clay

3M P III MG with the Sonus cutting Pad

Meg`s # 80 with the Sonus Polishing Pad

NXT X 2 with the Sonus Blue Pad( Ive had the NXT for months and never used it )

LSP- Pinnacle Souveran Paste

Here`s the "before`s" after the wash and clay..

Very nice looking paint! I really do like Souveran on red and black. Did you apply the Souveran by hand? Today I tried applying it with my PC, and though I wasted some product, I was able to get a very thin coat.

Thanks John and Carl.. Ive never tried to apply the Souveran by PC, its just too easy to get a thin layer by hand I guess:nixweiss

I would just hate to waste that stuff !!

I love Souveran. My mom`s got a car with a gorgeous red color. I`ve gotta get a can of it.

BTW, you can edit the size of your picture at phobucket with the little `edit` button. I think it`s under the thumbnail of your picture. Just click on 75% of original size, 50%, or 25%.

I think I usually use 75% and it fits the page perfectly.

PS: go to easythumbnails.com to down load the program. Then you can just resize your pictures very easily. That is then what you would send to photobucket.

Wow; very nice!

Another great wax on Classic Red is the Meguiar`s #26 paste. I have a hard time deciding which I prefer more. An added benefit of switching back and forth between the two is that a can of #26 is around $10, and you don`t really give up anything in appearance; it`s different, but just as good.

Yes, #26 for black, as well. It`s best on darker colors. What I`ve found is that a lot of people think "shine" when waxing their cars, but shine isn`t what really pulls your eyes out when you see a great detail; it`s depth. Depth is what I notice in your pictures, the illusion that the paint is about a foot thick, like a deep red prism or gemstone; it has "fire". #26 is another one of those waxes that gives depth.

Nice car and great detail on it. your right it was very swirly for only 8 months but cleaned up very nicely.

Something about those little miata`s draw my attention, they look very fun to drive and whip around in. The red is very nice, i see a green one around town locally, it`s also very nice.

How did you like the 3M P III MG?

Cheapshot, The MG works ! On my Camaro which will never be as swirled as the Miata, the MG cleans it up nicely. There were a couple of area`s on the Miata that I needed to go over a few times. I was wishing I had the 3M fine cut Compound,but with alot of work the MG knnocked out 80 to 90 % of the bad swirls. I would say you could go right to your LSP if you choose after the MG but I wanted something a little extra so I used the Megs # 80 too. The # 80 finished off the swirls and the owner was happy !!

Gary that looks great. My girlfriend`s 2003 red honda accord coupe has terrible swirls....even worse than the ones on the miata. Maybe i`ll use some 3m products to try and get some of those out. Did you find the sonus orange pad to have enough cutting power? I used the sonus orange pad with some 1z ultra paint polish and it never even touched her swirls. let me know. thanks.

Hi maxmaxed, I found the Sonus Cutting Pad to work alot better than the LC contoured cutting pad. If the swirls on your girlfriends car are real bad, the PC is going to have a hard time getting them out. MAybe try the 3M PIII Fine Cut Rubbing Compound first, I sure wish I had some for this job, it would of made things a little easier.
