1991 SS green Miata. Met Jim here on Autopia. Jim wants the paint to look as good as possible without swirls/cobwebs.

I had to detail the car at my house and unfortunatly the weather turned out to be perfect so I had no shade to work with.

The car is oxidized all swirled up, especially the hood and the trunk. Very deep swirls. I washed and clayed the car. The paint felt very smooth, but the clay bar revealed the truth. The dirtiest paint I have ever clayed. Took 2 hours and at 10:30 the sun was too hot to really play with DACP, but I experimented a little anyways.

    - #80 with both the white a yellow pads but couldn`t eliminate the deeper swirls.

Otherwise I love #80! It is very effective and user friendly. It removed most of the swirls in no time. I am sure I wil be using it a lot in the future.

    - tried DACP with both pads but not much more luck, but by that time the paint was really hot.

    - SMR with both pads, same result on hot surface.

Did the interior with woolite, 303, Lexol.

Vinyl top received 2 thick coats of 303, which made it look new.

The front/rear left fenders received #80 and AMINO UV sealant which is very slick, although I wiped it off after a couple of minutes due to the heat.

Oh... wheels were dirty as well. Used 303 on the tires simple green on the wheels.

    Here are some pictures.

    Before

the horizontal part of the rear fender was nearly swirl free with just #80

    interior before

interior after (not a great picture I know.)

    hood before

    another angle

right part of hood after DACP/#80, Amino UV

    Soft top after 303 treatment

#80 (1 pass) and Amino UV wax

Clear difference between the fender and drivers door which was untouched

So today I ordered SSR2.5, PwC, Natty, bird sh#t remover and NL I think.

Friday I`ll have it back if weather permits and it`ll have all PB stuff on it.

    Untill then.

Looks great. it must be strange drving around with part of your car looking perfect, and the other part having lots of swirls.

DCS, yes it was a little odd driving around with the front left quarter panel of my car looking fantastic, and the rest just not quite up to the same level! lol

I have to say what a great job Thomas did, even before he`d had a chance to finish the car. When my wife and I went to pick it up last weekend, we came around the corner, and she went "woah, what a difference". I can`t wait to see it now that he has the other supplies he needed!

Thomas - sorry, I didn`t realize the paint was that bad! (I have only had the car a few months, honest!)

looks great so far! i think you`ll like the SSR2.5 especially since you can use it in the sun. and #80 is great at removing swirls.
