Went and picked up this 1996 SVX L on monday. It`s got 71k miles, and is replacing my 94 with 112k miles.

Did a full detail on it (minus the interior...tomorrow) today, and had to take some quick pics before the sun went down.

    Used:

    Mother`s clay while washing

DACP with PC & orange pad

AIO with PC & white pad

NXT with PC & black pad

Wiped down engine with 303. It was only dusty, so I didnt need to wash it at all.

Within the next week or so: getting door dings removed, tint, exhaust, moving the spoiler back, moving all my stereo stuff over, and hopefully new rotors (if i dont run out of money before that).

Later on will come suspension, and possibly cf hood and different front bumper.

Awesome car! Didn`t you have those wheels on your white SVX?

I saw one of those on the road the other day and it was destroyed (oxidized, body damage, rust, etc.). Total shame.

What did these cars list for new?

They were pretty expensive I think, mid $30k`s...

Nice car. Haven`t heard much about it. How fast is it in the quarter mile. If it`s turbocharged, figured it be pretty quick.

The sticker for the white one was 36k..I dont have the sticker for the red one...but it should have been around 30.

    Here`s specs: http://www.subarusvx.com/specs.html

    (230 hp, awd, 4spd auto...7ish 0-60)

The white one ran 15.7 completely stock (with 90k or so miles).

HOPEFULLY going to the strip on Thursday to see if the red one is actually faster. It definately feels faster on the butt dyno.

No turbo and no manual .

    Bwana,

If I had a lot of $$$ to toss around, I`d love to do an auto-to-manual conversion on SVX, then look at adding a couple of small turbos and standalone fuel control. What a beast that would be . . .

Why would I want to add the drag of a pulley to the system? Not to mention, trying to find a spot for the charger that`s near the existing accessory belts would be a nightmare; there`s just not enough room the way that engine is packaged to supercharge it (in my not-a-mechanic-don`t-even-play-one-on-TV opinion, anyway).

Nope, that car needs two small turbos, small enough that there`s no apparent lag. Mid-range torque-beast, yum. I`m not anti-supercharger or anything; it`s just not the right solution for this car.
