Hybrid Solutions Ceramic/Graphene Paste Wax - **Updated with RAIN video

I got a new, unopened box of the Turtle Wax, Hybrid Solutions Ceramic/Graphene Paste Wax as a "payment" for detailing a friend`s car. I was curious about it, but had never bought or tried it for myself. So I decided to use my wife`s Escape as the guinea pig, since it sits outside 24/7 to see how well it holds up.

I made a video of the experience for YouTube, where I answered some questions I had, and dispelled the complaints I`d heard about "It`s so {darn} hard to remove." I had already guessed that the complainers had applied it WAY too heavy (it IS a `modern` "wax" after all, and almost ALL modern waxes/sealants TELL YOU UP FRONT to apply THINLY). That and NO ONE (even Turtle Wax) had even mentioned application by orbital polisher. So since I had it now, I thought I would try to answer those questions as well as check out the results.

I went in thinking that there WOULDN`T be a visual difference, since my wife`s car had recently been fully compounded/polished and sealed. Was I wrong? Watch and find out (sorry, it IS on the longer side).

Well, it seems that using an orbital polisher with a mid-level polishing pad (I prefer them over the "too soft" wax application pads - they seem to work better), IS a valid method to apply the C/G Paste Wax. In fact, it is my preferred method because you just CAN`T get the same even/thin coat by hand AND make sure you don`t miss any spots.

Too, it is NOT difficult to remove. It CAN be a touch `grabby,` and leave some smearing/residue behind, BUT flipping the removal towel frequently or changing to a fresh towel occasionally solves that. I ALSO, use a brand new towel and once I`m "complete" removing the wax, wipe down the entire car again (only takes a couple of minutes), in what Mike Phillips would call a `Final Wipe.` Slow and steady movements with light to medium pressure, that guaranties NO smears, streaks, missed spots - a flawless finish.

Visual Appearance. I DID NOT expect to see much of a difference, but I was wrong. The color of the paint WAS deeper and the gloss was astounding. Far MORE of an improvement than I had imagined.

Rain. My wife`s car sat through an overnight DOWNPOUR, and when I shined a flashlight on the car, the water was FLYING off the panels. Unfortunately, it was too dark to take a video, but in the morning (after the rain had stopped), the water remaining on the surface was in really tight beads. I have no idea on durability - yet.

    Did I miss anything?

Excellent video and review. I`ve gotten away from paste waxes, as I`m sure a lot of folks have these days....but this makes me rethink that. I`m curious to see if you`d see a visual difference on a lighter colred car....I may try that on my wifes Yukon. Thanks for taking the time and posting that

I`ve been machine-applying LSP`s for years now. It`s SO much faster, easier, and conserves product.
