2006 Porsche Carrera S, Operation Save me!

    2006 Porsche Carrera S (997.1)
    Lapis Blue Metallic/Gray top/Gray gut
    85,236 miles
    3.8 liter flat 6/381 HP

Client sold their old air cooled cabrio and wanted to replace it with something a little more modern.
Car is in fine mechanical condition and the paint was horrible…full of swirls, water spots, hazy/dull/oxidized paint, the usual for a ‘not really’ taken care of vehicle.
Paint correction/ceramic coating to be completed and she will be on her way!

    The ‘details’:
Adam’s shampoo, wheel cleaner, tire/rubber, glass cleaner.
    McKee’s37 iron remover.
    Medium clay alternative mitt.
    McKee’s37 Hydro Blue.
Master Blaster and PFM to dry.
    Scangrip lighting.
    DeFelsko PTG’s.
303 fabric cleaner & protectant on the top.
    Flex machines.
    LC pads.
    Griot’s FCC and Perfecting creams.
Optimum panel wipe for final wipe down.
    CQ SIC.
    GYEON tire.
    Metro vacuum.
    McKee’s37 quick interior detailer.

    Done!

    Thank you for looking.

    Sizzle Chest:
"Thanks" for posting your detailing exploits and photos of a driven-and-used Porsche Carrera S. While some may cringe at letting such a thoroughbred get into the visual condition as you have pictorially documented, it is a vehicle that was meant to be driven and it is quite obvious it was indeed driven.
Two questions about the Porsche itself:
    1) Is the word "Cabrio" ever used with a Porsche convertible, seeing this IS a convertible?
    2) Is this an automatic transmission that I see in the interior pictures and I assume it is a Tiptronic?

    Two questions about the detailing:
    1) Where was the 3.4 PTG reading taken from?
    2) What are those white specks/dots that show up on the exterior panels in the first three pics of the panels?
Gotta say, the exterior color looks "grey" and not blue; maybe just the camera angle and ambient lighting when the photos were taken.

I am sure the new owner is thrilled with the end results. It a very exquisite shade of metallic blue.
By the way, did you ever detail his older previously-owned air-cooled Porsche or ever see the car in question in person at a car show or Porsche event? Just wondering where it went. (Always the questions, Captain Obvious!)

Two questions about the Porsche itself:
    1) Is the word "Cabrio" ever used with a Porsche convertible, seeing this IS a convertible? Yes, all convertibles are considered Cabriolet`s in the Porsche world...
    2) Is this an automatic transmission that I see in the interior pictures and I assume it is a Tiptronic? Yep! It is. 5 speed ZF box.

    Two questions about the detailing:
    1) Where was the 3.4 PTG reading taken from? Those 2 readings were pretty much the averages I was seeing on the entire vehicle.
    2) What are those white specks/dots that show up on the exterior panels in the first three pics of the panels? Pinholes/outgassing holes I call them. I believe it was repainted and not well on some panels. I saw quite a few of these `holes`.
Gotta say, the exterior color looks "grey" and not blue; maybe just the camera angle and ambient lighting when the photos were taken. Well I hope my work made this dark blue/metallic stand out...but I guess not! LOL

It is still local and we have not seen it as of yet. The new owner/custodian, purchased it to redo/restore it for his wife as it was her favorite car, from the year of their marriage...and it was going to be a surprise gift to her for their anniversary! (It was a 1990 911 cabriolet)

Beauty of a car Scott! Did I see overspray in the first few pics? Hammered for sure before you got your hands on it, love the end results. Did Porsche clear coat the door shuts like the exterior? Just asking as my wife`s A8 has what I consider to be a real paint job on all the doors and shuts

Wasn`t overspray, some defects\ pinholes in the paint. Yep! Those areas were cleared!

    Nice Extreme Makeover!

BTW - Nice Paint Thickness Gauge. Do you like it?
Have you tried measuring in microns?

    Thanks Mike! Appreciate it!

Yep, had `someone` talk me out of some cash to add one to my arsenal! LOL. I like it, much easier/faster and less `messy` than our other ones. I have not yet switched, but may do so soon!

    Thanks again!
