Client was interested in just protecting his still owned since new first vehicle. Wasn’t that concerned with the correction aspect. Plan was to be very conservative in the correction.
The paint was absolutely hammered. Appears to have never been touched in 50+ years! Oxidized, dull, lifeless, cracked, CRAZY swirls, scratches, and anything else you want to throw on top of it…it had it. Single stage paint. But…it has/had patina!
Got super glossy, a lot of the defects/swirls/cracks remained, however, it looks a ton better!

Meg’s #7 wipe/rub down. 3 applications.
Medium clay bar.

DeFelsko PTG.

M105/M205.
Optimum panel wipe.
Adam’s advanced graphene coating.
GYEON tire.
Metro vacuum.
Pinnacle black label leather conditioner.
McKee’s37 interior detailer.
McKee’s37 interior surface protectant.
Auto finesse glass cleaner.
McKee’s37 APC.

How did you apply the Meg`s #7? I assume by machine and not by hand and was there any dead paint transfer to the pads?
Why did you use Meg`s 105/204 compound/polish, respectively, over the Scholl Concepts that you used on a truck that has similar paint defects?
IS the 105/205 better suited to single stage paint?
Did you do anything special to the chrome??
What did you do to the rusted areas on the paint, if anything?

As you stated, this was a detailing preservation restoration, not a fix and repair and replace restoration. I think it was one of your more challenging details, especially the leather. "Patina" has its visual place as evidence of originality.

Excellent workmanship/preservation on this MGB. The Lucas electrical gods/demons (only the owner knows) are smiling!!

As a side note question, do you ever publish comments that owners make when they come to pick up their vehicles you detail? Or is this in the "doctor-patient confidentiality" realm? I can understand the reasons behind the confidentiality of this private conversation by both parties, really.
Or is it the same-old-same-old "I cannot believe this is my car", "It`s better than the day I bought it", "Holy (censored by forum software)" comments?

Why did you use Meg`s 105/204 compound/polish, respectively, over the Scholl Concepts that you used on a truck that has similar paint defects? The Cayenne I did w/the Scholl`s was base/clear and I had something to work with on that, this was on the thin side with thinner areas. I figured with this old paint, the `ole dynamic duo of 105/205 should work well.
IS the 105/205 better suited to single stage paint? You`d have to ask Megs that!
Did you do anything special to the chrome?? Waterless wash. Glazed it to shine it up a bit.

"Patina" has its visual place as evidence of originality. The leather was SUPER dry. I hit it with a few rounds and it started to darken up a bit/soak it up. It has patina for sure!
