    1970 Deville, 69 Chevelle, 80 Seville, 93 E500 - Pinnacle Auto Detail - CT

I`ve had a recent influx of classic cars that I figured the forums would appreciate, so here`s a few of them (hopefully with more to come). The 1970 Cadillac had all original paint and an original interior, the owner cleaned the interior himself so I stuck to just improving the paint. This one obviously hadn`t been detailed in quite some time, and the last polishing it received left it heavily swirled. To start the car was wiped down with ONR and Meguiar`s #7 was used to restore oils to the paint, in the process bringing back a little color. After this HD Speed and LC white pads on the Rupes 21 & 75E were used to gently remove the top layer of oxidized paint. I stuck to this relatively mild combo because of how soft the paint was, its age and probable lack of thickness. Even with this mild approach I was still able to bring back a lot of color and shine to this paint and remove the rotary swirls and some marring.

    Moderate rotary swirls:

The trunk showed heavy marring and swirling:

50/50 of the hood, both sides had received #7 while the passenger side was polished once with HD Speed on LC white pads:

Some marring would still remain, but for 40+ year old paint it was looking vastly improved:

Next up is the 1969 Chevelle. I’m not too sure of what this car was originally, I do know that it had serious suspension work done, HUGE headers, a 496 stroker and carbon fiber interior pieces. According to the owner it puts out over 700hp. The car had been painted a few years ago and was sanded and polished, we decided on a one-step correction to eliminate the light-moderate swirls. The hood was also lightly leveled with CarPro denim (2000grit) orange peeling pads, which created sharper reflections and and less distortion without a lot of time and effort invested.

This 1980 Seville was owned by a friend of the owner of the ’70 Deville posted above. He had the car painted, sanded and polished earlier in the summer, however, the bodyshop left plenty of swirls and D/A hazing in the surface. In addition, the owner had taken it through an automatic car wash, so there was some marring and moderate water spots to contend with. We decided on a one-step correction using HD Speed, the Rupes 21 & 75E and LC black pads to get this Caddy in good shape before a wedding the following weekend.

Last up is the ’93 E500. This one had about 125k on the clock and was in good shape inside (just received a basic full cleaning). It’s kind of an interesting car given that it was an absolute rocket (322hp) of a family sedan in the early 1990s. The customer requested a basic interior/exterior package to start as the car hadn’t been polished in a couple years, the single stage black responded well to a combo of HD Speed and LC black pads on the Rupes. Sometime in the future this one may be receiving a full correction, as an AIO job just couldn’t provide full correction.
