Opposite ends, black 2015 Challenger, white 1950 chopped Mercury

2015 Dodge Challenger R/T. Thought it would be an easy one, owner already has ONR to wash and this was a new car. A new car covered in over spray. White dots everywhere. And since the owner had just recently purchased the car and the weather has sucked until this past week, she has no idea when it got on her car since she hadn`t had a chance to wash it herself. Plus it had random scuffs, swirls, scratches, etc.

    ONR wash
    Clay Magic Purple clay
Meguiars M100 using a Meguiars microfiber cutting pad and Rupes DA
Rupes Keramik Gloss using an orange Optimum waffle foam cutting pad and Rupes
Optimum G-P-S using a low profile Meguiars foam polishing pad and Rupes
    Armor All on tires

This was not a full on correction like originally planned. The owner and I decided it would be best to make sure the over spray issue is a one time thing (her office is right next to a body shop in an area zone commercial/industrial) before proceeding to a full on correction and either Optimum Gloss-Coat or Opti-Coat Pro. It`s at about 90% now...

    -----------------

1950 Mercury chopped custom. The car was original built in the early 70s (interior really gives that away...) and had a single respray in base coat/clear coat in 1995. The car has nothing to do with the movie American Beauty...the repaint preceded the movie by 4 years.

The car had been regularly driven until about 3 years ago when the owner`s health forced the car into semi-retirement. His best friend manages the warehouse of cars I was taking care of over the summer and called me out to clean the car up. Apparently Pebble Beach is looking to feature custom `49-50 Mercury`s done in the classic George Barris/50`s style so the car needed to be cleaned up for pictures to submit for consideration.

Overall it was in decent shape, mostly just light swirls. Clear was pretty soft too. The hood latch was being finicky, so no shots of the original flathead V8.

    ONR wash
    Optimum Clay Towel
Optimum Hyper Polish using an orange Optimum foam waffle cutting pad and Rupes DA
    Opti-Seal
Optimum Metal Polish on the chrome
    Armor All on tires/wheel wells
Woolite/water at 20:1 dilution to clean the interior

    Before and after

    Acres of 70`s crushed velour.
