Opti-Coated Scion FR-S by Explicit Details Auto Appearance

This Firestorm Red 2013 Scion FR-S recently came into my shop for an Opti-Coat treatment about two weeks after it was picked up from the dealer.

I began with an ONR wash and clay. Even for only a two week old car, there was quite a bit of bonded contamination. This was from only the hood and front fenders:







Upon initial inspection, the car was covered in light swirls and also some deeper scratches on the top of the trunk lid and the upper portion of the rear quarter panels.

I decided to use M105 on a MF cutting pad to take care of the deeper scratches and follow up with Menzerna SF4500 on a white LC pad over the entire car to take care of the light swirls. The hood required two passes with the SF4500 and the rest of the car required one pass. Unfortunately it was very overcast and my camera was not able to pick up the light imperfections on this color even under the bright ispection lights.
