There should be a rule that you have to accumulate 500 posts before you’re allowed to show off your work.

Does anyone else feel the same way as I do?

I totally agree. If the only reason they post on the forums is to showcase their work than it is nothing more than SPAM.

I really do enjoy seeing the well written and educational write ups....but it`s VERY annoying when someone post before and after pics and they don`t tell you how they got the results. :tumblewee

I can definitely agree with the comments on Joes posting in the Pros category and members posting CnB`s and nothing else (or those that post landmines...a short comment or question and then never follow-up).

I would like to know how the owners of Autopia feel about this? In addition, how do they feel about threads in categories where they don`t belong?

What if new CnB`s had to follow a proper format for posting (a minimum set of requirements regarding photos, information, links, and formatting) and new users had to post their first 10 CnB`s for example to the regular CnB section? Or maybe new users got 1 CnB pass for every 30 posts. Something good has to come out of 30 posts.

I know it sounds a little stringent perhaps, but it`s better to look at stringent rules first...it`s easier to trim than add-on.

Maybe they have to submit for approval, and these are the only ones to post in the PRO C/B section.

Maybe a section needs to be made for the spammers. They can be a sponsor and post all the spam they want.

This discussion of what is a pro will never come to an end. If you do it for profit, have a business license, and some form of insurance that is about all you can say. Full time vs. Part time should not be an issue. The number of vehicles you do not. Number of years.......... Have a Website........ you get the idea.

How about instead of a 100/200/500 post count minimum in order to post C&B`s, implement a post-per-C&B requirement? These offenders could merely hit the 100/200/500 post mark and then simply continue to post and run, and as mentioned, it would be a little unrealistic to reach, say 500 posts. Instead, maybe require that for every C&B, they must have two other posts. This will eliminate the issue of having to reach a certain number of posts first, and would keep them active instead of having them cease all helpful activity once the hit the post minimum. Two posts per C&B isn`t that ridiculous. It`s very doable, and would foster their involvement in other areas of the forum.

This is part of the reason why I haven`t posted any of the cars I have on done within the past few months. I don`t have the time right now to do proper write ups on them nor do I have the time to answer questions or thank people for their comments. Doing a "paste and scram" wouldn`t benefit anyone so they`re better left unposted... OK I`ve been here long enough, back to work I go!!

In the case of car forums, I`m extremely annoyed with all those posts and wish sponsors would help out members instead of just post photos.

In this forum however, if there`s a section for it people should be allowed to simply post the subject at hand, and if that be a B&A then that`s fine. However, I will only read a select few members` writeups because I do agree with you... everyone and their long lost cousin is a detailer these days and posting B&As. It`s quite annoying as well that it`s posted in the Pro section, which indicates that there should be quite a bit of info along with the actual photos.

Long story short, I`m with you on this one, just feel more strongly about it when it comes to actual car-oriented forums.

There is one forum in particular that has many sponsors who have zero business working on the cars they represent.

David Fermani fixed a white BMW in which the `detailer` was kicked off of the property by the owner!

Or my friend Brian had to fix a couple of BMW`s in the Washington DC because of another sponsor who left holograms all over the paint.

Barry Theal has fixed two of these sponsors cars, and has pictures of the burnt trim, burnt edges, etc...

While a little off topic, forums have allowed those who read other forums to pay money, become sponsors, and bring the whole industry down because of this.

Todd I only corrected one, but here is a sneak peak of the other. This car was corrected roughly three weeks ago.

I saw the `Click and Brag` on that car

It is crazy the amount of newbie detailers popping up, paying sponsorship money, and making us look terrible with the quality of work they turn out.

David`s story about the South Florida detailer who was kicked off of his clients lawn is still the best though.
